Basically if you mishit a pen to one side, as long as it is on target you have scored if the keeper goes the wrong way. Panenka it and mishit and as seen today the keeper can readjust and save it.

This, as it allows the keeper a chance to correct his actions and still save the pen. There's a reason you don't see it as much as more conventional penalties.
