Its January, not the business end yet. Turning over a 4 point deficit with 19 games left to play is easily doable, if we're 9 points off with say 6 or 7 games left then maybe I would say its time to settle for the play offs but automatics is still very much on the table at this point in time.

    The Tinkerman

I think you may be right but we may not see the benefits of squad rotation until the latter part of the season, say we go and win 9 of our last 10 games this season which secures promotion, Murphy, JOB, Cole, Maddison all play blinding matches because they haven't been burnt out over the season...

Stokes was poor but he had zero support as we had no one playing on the left flank second half. Cook did ok and don't think bigi did as badly as people make out.

    Murphy

Murphy is Jekyll and Hyde, he will look poor for a period of the match and then play like Messi for a 15-20 minutes. Unreliable in the big matches, destroyed Gillingham but was awful v Walsall and Burton.

pretty sure it's bull, the no recall would have been decided between both clubs and its likely we pushed for it rather than Newcastle insisting on it.

Newcastle insisted on it did they? Where you hear that one?

Decent first half, poor second half. Phillips liability, Ramage very average, Stokes poor and Murphy abject today.

    Cotterill sacked

As a manager your almost better off nearly getting promoted every year and just missing out. If we were struggling with Mowbray in the championship I'd hope we would stick with him.

Why would we change the system? Is the current one not working?

have we got the upper hand

Dunno about the upper hand but we've got a good hand, I'm quietly confident about our automatic promotion chances and I think teams around us will be worried.

    Chris Stokes

Didn't think Haynes overlapped much at all, times Murphy was crying out for Haynes to overlap or dart in behind and Haynes was just standing still, holding his position.

Same names, two players, one really good, one not so

George Best/Leon Best Bobby Moore/Darren Moore

    Vincelot - First Half

Chambers was dirty last night and should have been sent off, 3 or 4 fouls that were easily bookings he got away with. Think it was him that also cleaned Cole out early on with a sliding challenge that was 100% a booking offence/

    Walsall (Home) Match Thread

I think you have a point but also got to take into consideration that team are now approaching us differently than why they were earlier in the season. Early season most teams were open against us as they fancied there chances and Armstrong, Murphy and co. were destroying them with the space...

Nothing gets past you. Just pointing out its not as simple as that, just because Walsall finished stronger doesn't make them super fit or us unfit, or that we were more fatigued than them. It was just the way the game flowed. Imo the game changed with the subs, when Cole went off as we lost the...

Just trying to work out what Mowbray is thinking as MAF is giving the ball away, slowing down play and losing control of the ball every few seconds.
