To those who want Robins gone now

We actually don’t know apart from the things we see on the pitch. Even so, in any team environment, morale fluctuates based on results, all it takes is a momentum shift and things will be ok. The lack of any senior players is concerning, particularly in difficult times like this. This is where...

    Kitching vs Binks

I like that about Kitching too, after our dip in form in March/April, Binks probably deserved a run in the side. The average goals conceded with him and/or Lati playing CB should worry anyone. With the team lacking in leaders on the field, you’d think ex-Barnsley captain Kitching would be more...

    Kitching vs Binks

A part of me thinks that Binks is in the team for his range of passing because we’re missing that in midfield. His left to right diagonals are really good. Defensively, I do think he’s soft compared to Kitching and the amount of goals we concede with him in the team atm is concerning. Against...

To those who want Robins gone now

Robins will figure out if that’s what he actually needs. 2 months into a season you’re not going to know for sure. Any neutral observer would feel that it is ridiculous to even have this conversation this early into a season in relation to a manager who’s been head and shoulders above the rest...

Poll: Should Robins Stay Or Should He Go Now?

It’s 6 league games into the campaign, it’s too early to judge on anything. The underlying data metrics show we’ve played better than our results suggest. A lot of the we have spent is on players who will develop too, players like Rudoni and EMC probably just need a good run in the side and hit...

Where’s our next points coming from ?

I said to my group that after that bad performance, watch us get a result at Leeds. Safe to say that was treated with a lot of scepticism. We just tend to play better against better teams because we’re not as open. We’re actually trying to be closed defensively and move the ball directly in...

Poll: Should Robins Stay Or Should He Go Now?

We’ve spent a lot of money but given the scale of money required to challenge at the top of the table, it’s not that much. Especially when you look at the state of the team in 2022/23. The team after the loans, Vik and Hamer leaving would have struggled in the Championship.

To those who want Robins gone now

Equally, you have to give things time and 6 games, it isn’t enough time to figure out if things need to change. Looking back to AV’s first season, would anyone have looked at our early performances and felt we’d be playing for Premiership football 5-6 season later. The circumstances are...

xG (maybe things aren't as bad as they look?)

Funnily enough, they do measure xG on game state (i.e. when winning or losing) too now. Looking at the Man City v Arsenal match, Man City’s xG was only 1.5-1.6 in the 2nd half v Arsenal. That’s accumulated because they had 29 shots in that half. Back to that Norwich game, we didn’t fashion a...

    Ephron Mason-Clark

Gyokeres wasn’t even playing for Swansea when we picked him up. I’d sure people would have preferred us to sign a top end L1 striker at the time we signed Vik. COH’s experience before us was Carlisle in L2, Sheaf on the back of L1 performances with DRFC. Hamer was signed from a lower end...

To those who want Robins gone now

Luton are only 2 points better off than us and their team should be better than ours. The knives shouldn’t be put for Robins at this stage of the season, it’s silly talk. It’s a different conversation if we’re 20 games in and around 19th still. For arguments sake, if we win the next 3 games...

    Robins and King

He did say that about the midfield last season, numerous times and particularly raised it against quality opposition. Going into the season, the squad felt incomplete and nothing changed as the window closed. Defensively, and in midfield we look weak. I feel like we’ve allowed expectations to...

To those who want Robins gone now

Exactly, the league is a marathon, not a sprint and there’s been plenty of examples of teams starting slowly and peaking towards the end of the season. Just look 2022/23 where us v Middlesborough was a 23rd v 24th clash in Sept/Oct and we were both in the playoff semi finals.

To those who want Robins gone now

The trends over the last 7 years with MR haven’t changed. It’s been a slow start every season barring the 2nd Championship season where we won the first 6 home games. People also forget that the same questions being asked of MR were asked when Viveash came to the club to replace Robin’s long...

To those who want Robins gone now

I’d just like to remind the forum that the year we won L1, many people were criticising the style of play and teetering on the ‘Robins Out’ camp. Whenever we talk about that season now, those same people talk about how well we started that season. It’s 6 games into the league season and whilst...

    Robins will carry the can

The team isn’t good enough for promotion, the midfield and defence is particularly off the pace. The team should be good enough for top 6.

    Robins will carry the can

We’re still only 6 games in - the obvious issues are there and they probably don’t have an overnight fix. This panicking and writing off the players and MR is becoming an annual event now.

Hahaha Nick, always one for the dramatics!

    Leaders

Yeah… you can see on social media and even the lads I go with, too moaning at certain players. We’re still 6 games in. Disappointing start, of course but not really indicative of how the season will go (just yet).

    Leaders

Tactically we’re not all over the place. There’s just a lack of general bravery in possession. Soft defensively, safe in possession and a young team finding their feet still. There’s a need for leaders in the group, absolutely! Still, it’s early in the season… there’s no need to shit the bed.
