    USSR invades Ukraine.

Far be it from me to give you a history lesson but we did intervene in Cyprus.

    Shamima Begum

Didn’t we repatriate all the British prisoners from Guantanamo Bay? How’s this case any different? Other than she’s female and a minor at the point she joined a terrorist organisation abroad.

I literally don’t know 1 person who lapped it up, doesn’t think Blair is a war criminal and found his bizarre appointment by the UN as a piece envoy for the region anything other than a piss take. Regardless of their politics. If anything in my experience it’s one of the few things that people...

Get her back and trial her as an adult for all her crimes and then the judge can consider her age at time of the crime when sentencing. Surely the obvious compromise.

The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

Starmer got Sunak over a barrel at PMQ’s on Northern Ireland. Funny thing is he’s just essentially asking questions on behalf of the ERG and DUP in reality. He’s also just pledged in parliament to lend Sunak the votes to get it through also.

    USSR invades Ukraine.

The majority of Protestants in Northern Ireland refer to themselves as Ulster Scots. My gran always did, she even had a Scottish maiden name.

    USSR invades Ukraine.

It is in some ways. The British essentially agreed to leave “Ireland” on the basis that the provenance of Ulster (well, most of it anyway) remained as part of the UK leaving the rest of the island of Ireland to be a free state. It’s not often referred to as the free state anymore but it’s a term...

We’re crossing thresholds and moving into despot dictator territory.

Correct. The actual figures are worse than I presented them from memory. Well spotted. Probably explains why Astutes daughter can afford to get on the housing ladder in France. I’m sure you’ll agree.

    Roald Dahl books

That’s kind of the point. In Germany they don’t shy away from education on the atrocities committed by Nazi Germany, think it’s still part of the curriculum in Germany. One of the reasons they’re so apologetic about it. I’m watching a travelogue of a Dutch woman who motorcycling around the...

The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

Think it was from the early 70’s until today. Basically a snapshot of the last 50 years. You need to cancel a hell of a lot of Netflix subscriptions to make up the difference between the UK and our European neighbours.

    Roald Dahl books

If you feel you have to put a warning on them somewhere saying at the time of writing some of the language was culturally acceptable then do but don’t rewrite them. They do something similar with Only Fools and Horses re-runs. It’s not acceptable today to refer to a corner shop in a manner it...

The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

The Times had an article at the weekend about how in the UK the average house price is 8 times the average wage, highest ratio in Europe. In France it’s about 4 times the average wage IIRC.

The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

Story/Rumour doing the rounds this morning that Suella Braverman is threatening to resign if Sunak pursues his “fix” to the NI protocol. At last. A tangible brexit benefit. Then again if she was the best person they could find for Home Secretary how shit is the next person going to be?

They just can’t stop lying to us. Even after being caught out. Pretend that didn’t happen and keep lying.

I think it would suit Starmer if the Tories got this sorted so it’s one less thing he’d potentially have to deal with if he won the next general election. Even if that means lending them votes. Also makes Sunak look weak in plain sight as an added bonus for Starmer.

The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

Braverman has been briefing against Sunak and his attempts to renegotiate the protocol, DUP not playing ball, ERG not playing ball and releasing the details of the renegotiation are now being delayed. Looking dead in the water even if the DUP do accept it unless Labour vote it through for Sunak...

Hold on. Are you suggesting our slump was down to more than covid meaning we’ve recovered from covid like the rest of the world but the other thing is still holding us back?
