    Rudoni …?

Why is he being targeted rather than someone like Sheaf or Eccles?

    Mason-Clark

The return to 3-4-1-2 is clearly an attempt to concede less goals. If we need to go into every game needing a minimum of 2 goals, we won’t win many games. Additionally, the idea is to make use of all 4 strikers over the 90 minutes. If we did try and play 4-2-3-1 again, it wouldn’t surprise me...

They had to moved on, 100% agree. Who has replaced them? The CB department is the exact same as last season minus McFadz. Likewise, the CM department is the exact same barring Kelly. That is a lot of experience and leadership leaving the group of players and the most senior players we have...

    Rudoni …?

Sheaf doesn’t look 100% to me. However, I think it looks structurally weak for different reasons. Eccles and/or Sheaf will stand in advanced positions but when they get the ball there, still hesitate to put the ball in the box (non-crosses) and look to go out wide. Too often, we get it out wide...

    Bottom 3

Our record after 11 games was 2-4-5 (W-D-L) with 10 points. One point better off than where we are at now. So it is comparable, the only significant difference is that we played more away games at the start of the season because of the postponements. I just believe that the team would be...

    Time's Up

If he plays like that consistently, he will be back in the team as a starter in no time. He impressed me with the amount of tackles he got stuck into and as you rightly point out, moved the ball forward quickly. It’s nothing against Eccles or Sheaf, they’re just a bit too similar. They keep the...

    Bottom 3

We’re roughly where we were in 2022/23 so there’s plenty of time to turn a corner. Personally, I’m not panicking and we’re catastrophising over the performances as we haven’t been as bad as has been made out at times.

We’re just not playing to his strengths. There were moments we tried to use one of the CMs to overlap with him to create overloads in those channels. The best example being Eccles’ superb cross in the second half. I think we want to play 4-2-3-1 still but think we look more defensively balanced...

    And with that Simms chance....

What an irrational take - got a check where Godden was at when he was 21/22. Simms deserves credit for a decent performance where he improved the team from his introduction. The chances didn’t quite fall tonight. There’s this irrational scapegoating because he didn’t make a reasonably difficult...

    And with that Simms chance....

How do you know what he can see exactly? There are times, for example, Sheaf looks completely unaware of what’s around him before he turns 2-3 players.

Lati wasn’t at the heart of defence, only from goal kicks for some reason - probably ball progression. The creativity comes from Eccles and Sheaf too. They are too comfortable passing laterally, something they’re both good at. When I comes to making passes forwards in the final third, not so...

    And with that Simms chance....

Disagree. He’s taking the chance because he backed himself to make the finish. Having looked at the replay, the passing lane wasn’t as open as I thought live. It’s a good thing that he wanted to take ownership, we’ve been far too guilty of players not taking risks when they need to.

    Recruitment has been shocking

You’re moving the goal posts. You (or others) held it against EMC because he came from a National League academy. Toney came through a L2 academy so the difference is minimal. His career started off similarly to our Gael Bigi. Does well in one season, gets a big move, fails to break into to...

David Moyes managing in the Championship?! That is, to be charitable, wishful thinking.

    Simms and Wright

The core of the issue is that the forwards just do not have the quality of chances to score. We can bleat about all 4 of our strikers, but they haven’t been provided the chances to score. Simms proved last year that when supplied with chances, he’ll score. Haji Wright had one shot in the box on...

    Recruitment has been shocking

I don’t think so, £4.25m for a player with that record in the league below is a reasonable price. It’s not quite the same, but Toney for £10m seemed ridiculous at the time. He was 24 and had 23/24 goals in about 32 appearances.

    Recruitment has been shocking

I’m convinced we’ll turn things around but it’s clear that the team needs further investment in midfield and defence. We need experience/leadership and different profiles of players here.

    Recruitment has been shocking

EMC had 32 goal contributions from the wing last season, of course other teams would’ve been interested.

    Robins on CWR

The problem is, and always been our lack of ability to create chances. We struggle to fashion good quality chances and that comes from the midfield and wide players (WB yesterday). Sheaf and Eccles are two individually good players, but do the same things and it negatively impacts the team...
