    Simms and Assante

I missed that, the Turkish transfer window was open slightly longer than ours, isn’t it? It’ll be a huge loss if Rudoni needs surgery and immediately changes the recruitment priorities. Eccles has fitted in well these last 2 games but it’s an obvious downgrade on goals and assists. Eccles...

I’d be happy if we get Raj-Sakai (Palace) over the line as rumoured on deadline day. My “optimistic” hope is that we go for someone with real ‘X-factor’, in a similar vain to when Burnley signed Edwards last Jan. Depending on Rudoni’s situation too may dictate if we go for a AM. I think Oggy...

That’s my thinking too. I’m not sure we still sign Matty Grimes in Jan last season had we not worked our way into the playoff picture. 21/22 we got to a storming start and slowed down massively. The team was a lot weaker back then and our form under Lampard has been top 4 since he’s joined...

Far too many people being uncharitable to Simms and BTA. Any rumours about us lining up moves up for Jan?

There’s levels to this. Look at who Ipswich, Sheff U, Southampton and Leicester were able to bring on yesterday. Compare that to us. BTA is certainly surpassing expectations this season and carving out a niche tactical role. Nonetheless, it’s still a square peg in a round hole. There’s still...

If you insisted ‘Haji can’t play ST in Lampard’s system’, that was always a silly opinion to have. Haji’s numbers at LW have been average since Jan 2024 and the stats just do not lie. To the extent that Nov-Dec is the outlier. What didn’t help last season with Haji was a) the initial ankle...

Agreed. The reason it ended 4-0 was because Millwall were aggressively chasing a goal even at 3-0 down. We made life easy for ourselves for scoring a good 1st half goal from a solid piece of pressing by BTA. With the exception of Leicester away, we’ve been the better team in all of our games...

We’re a top 3-4 side. Ipswich, Leicester, Southampton and even Sheff U have deeper squads than us and that could be the difference. We’re still in October and in the 4 games we’ve drew, we’ve not really had any game changers to call upon from the bench. Take today as an example, the subs we...

Yep, those people must feel rather silly now. Haji has always scored more goals as a striker than a LW for us. I went through the data in the summer and Haji had a stand out 2 month spell in 2023 and those perceptions stuck.

This is why you have your valuation and you stick to it. If he wasn’t worth £15m in the summer, he definitely is now!

V similar goals, we’ll get many more like that if we carry on like this. It’s a v effective tactical idea. Right now, I don’t think we have enough for automatic promotion but with a strong Jan window could really make the difference.

The first half v Oxford was one of the most dominant performances from Cov I’ve seen in recent years. Should have scored 4-5 goals. BTA deserves a big shout out and I’d seriously consider keeping him as a starting winger.

The second goal was one of the best team goals we’ll score all season. 1st and 4th goals were good counterattacking moves. Kessler-Hayden looked fantastic on the ball!

That was a cracking result! To a man everyone played v well! 4-0 is a flattering scoreline because Millwall caused us some problems Shout out to Rushworth who made 2 top saves! He’s starting to show his class now. Kudos to Aled Williams! 😂

    Look after Woolfy

Agreed. Andrews in particular would have benefitted from coming into a game at 3-0 with no pressure. He had some decent touches. Likewise, you want to sub off Torp, Eccles, BTA, Sakamoto to keep them fresh. CBs by contrast, is a lower intensity role and both Kitch and Thomas are both durable...

Chancers can succeed in the L1 but in the Championship, you’re not getting promoted without a half decent manager.

That’s harsh. It was a difficult chance and was a decent job controlling the ball in the fist place.

Sounded like Rooney after we comfortably beat them 2-0. The game wasn’t close at all and that’s reflected in the stats. It’s good that Blues and Wrexham are being put back in their little box.

    3rd Kit

I like it, more of our away kits should be navy-ish with a sky blue trim.

    Aled Williams & John Dempster

It’s more appropriate to say Wilson peaked in 22/23 rather than regressed in 23/24 who returned to the same player that was dropped in 21/22. That’s the view I take. You see it all the time that players have 1 season that is a complete outlier.
