    25/26 January Transfer Window

An experienced player like… Grimes? If rumours are to be believed, we’ll be signing another experienced pro in Onyeka this window.

Is Wolfie to go down , as our most expensive flop ?

Thomas and Kitching have been our established CB partnership for 3 seasons now and when we signed Wolfenden, we had the best defence in the league. Now that’s changing, perhaps Lampard revisits this again. The premise of this thread is plainly ridiculous and he may find a role at some point.

It is valid, but more people are talking about that than the 3 mistakes/errors that actually cost us the game. EMC has to score that chance at 1-1, it’s a header from a few yards out, Eccles header at 2-1 down was also not good enough. Haji’s chance was the hardest of the lot but he should’ve...

    Transfer Rumour Frank Onyeka

We just lack athleticism and ball winning in midfield and feel that for balancing purposes, that gives us an edge. We’ve been doing it all season, we regularly bring on Allen to see games out.

    Transfer Rumour Frank Onyeka

First and foremost it was individual errors. No one can watch the 2nd goal and tell me it’s tactical. If that’s tactical, MVE’s back pass v Sunderland was also a tactical error… 🙄

What chances then? Both of their best chances were their second half goals…

We had a higher xG in both halves so whatever chances you think they should’ve scored, we literally had better chances. That’s not even including EMC missing from a yard out and Haji having one cleared off the line.

Not in that context. If we get caught on the break and he gets done for pace, or makes a mistake under pressure, or even a progressive pass that goes astray, that’s fair enough and those errors happen. He’s just miscontrolled the ball under no pressure and Norwich react quickly, it’s unforgivable.

    Line in the sand

If we just keep up our home form, we’ll be sound. The away form needs to be addressed and we need to start on Saturday. December we could point to a packed schedule, we’ve had 22 games between league away games so that excuse doesn’t wash.

Kitching miscontrolled a ball at his feet with plenty of time. It’s a basic mistake, he’ll be called out for it. I’d agree if we’d conceded 10-15m into the half, not after 40s. We literally didn’t have time to lose control.

Nonetheless, we created the better chances in both halves. That wasn’t the fundamental problem, It’s just sloppy defending and individual errors costing us. When Lampard said we ‘gifted’ them the goals, that’s an accurate assessment imo. Tactically though, Lampard needs to take stock and...

I don’t think it’s a personnel issue, it’s down to tactics. Too much space between Grimes-Torp-BTA/Eccles to connect play. Both in build up play and in the defensive structure. To reiterate, those kind of counter attacks didn’t do us in though. The first goal was straight from KO and the second...

If we just take our chances, we win v PNE, Southampton, Charlton, Birmingham and Norwich. Of those games, we definitely should’ve won 2 or 3 of those. Bar Southampton and Blues, all the other teams basically scored all their clear cut chances. It’s irritating.

22/23 Hamer, yes. 25/26 Hamer, no. He’d be suited to where BTA was today. Grimes will struggle in the Prem if we get there. He’s struggled against the more physical teams in this league.

For a bit of balance, we created 3 big chances in the second and 2 of those came at 1-1 (Haji and EMC). You can’t miss that many chances and not be punished. At 1-1, we were the more likely to score and if you’re going to gift a goal as Kitching did, you won’t win many games in this division...

    Line in the sand

Agreed. I’m annoyed when teams play through us but unforced errors are the worst. In key moments this team has just done the stupidest unforced errors.

    Frank

Well, we should’ve scored 1 of the 2 big chances we had before they scored… All the complaints about the midfield and so on isn’t what lost us the game. Thomas gets caught flat footed for their first and Kitching loses the ball with an unforced error in a suicidal position. We need a player...

We missed 3 big chances in one half and had the best chances of the match so that’s something. Kitching gifting that goal is infuriating.

    Line in the sand

The fact we’re asking the question infers that the OP feels like we’ll bottle it. We’re 8 points clear of 3rd and people are bedwetting. We have the best home record in the league and Boro need to come to us and a better record away record than Ipswich. I’m angry we threw away a lead, but it...

Point 2 I agree with. 5-3-2 or something when we’re away might be a good should too. Something isn’t going our way when we’re on the road atm. We’ve lost 3 of our last 5 away games but at least you can afford to lose about 5-7 away games and still go up automatically.
