If you’re worried about coming off like a weird conspiracy theorist, may I suggest not cheerfully reposting tweets from a guy who thinks humanity is being prepared for a cull in the name of carbon harvesting.

I think that a picture of someone smiling and preparing to be punched during what everyone assumed to be a joke doesn’t really prove very much. We’ve all seen the same video. But feel free to take sides with the ‘They want to murder us for our carbon’ guy instead.

He seems like a really smart guy I might pass on taking his thoughts too seriously if you don’t mind.

Probably? It was disastrous for Janet Jackson’s career and an almighty headache for the broadcasters, so I don’t see who would have wanted it to happen. Or do you think there’s going to be a Janet Jackson-Justin Timberlake charity boxing match any day now that will explain the whole thing?

You don’t actually believe this, do you? Like, this isn’t something you’ve actually imagined and you’re telling people is the real explanation for what happened?

The moment itself wasn’t even broadcast live in the US - funny way to drum up ratings. Do you realise how crazy this all sounds? That Will Smith wanted to overshadow the proudest moment in his professional career because he needs the money from a hypothetical collab with Chris Rock?

And yet I’m still yet to hear a good explanation for why they would go to the trouble of staging it.

So why would he fake it then?

Nah - would always rather have the actual trophies than participation trophies.

I would rather have celebrated a World Cup win and a European Championship, but each to their own.
