I agree. Referees are held to a higher standard than anyone else in the game, it seems. They do need to be strong, though, and yesterday's wasn't. That's more problematic than how a tackle in the area is interpreted.

Rushworth, MvE, Dasilva and EMC were all good. Everyone else wasn't quite good enough, but not bad, either. Nobody was honking, we just fell a bit short.

Possibly the most egregious moment in the game was their centre-half rolling on the floor clutching his face following no contact whatsoever. I felt a bit embarrassed for him, tbh.

Tbf, they were as bad as those photos suggest. First, probably, worse, and EMC was lucky as his foot bent right back from his ankle. Could have been a serious injury. The second one, their bloke was very apologetic afterwards, not that that makes it a better tackle. First was an unarguable red.
