    Juke is a gonner

Doesn't really matter whether it's £0.5m £2.5m - little if any will be spent on the side, SISU will still be in debt, and the club will continue to lose money. Good times!

    To the apathetic ones...

Back in the late 90s we were playing Premiership football against world-class players, and had the likes of Dublin, Huck, Whelan, Keane for ourselves. Our capacity was only some 23,000, and yet we still couldn't sell out every game. Bryan Richardson quietly put us 60m into debt and left us...

    To the apathetic ones...

Yep. I just think it isn't sustainable to constantly expect ownership to be either dipping into their own pockets or borrowing against the club. The fans ought to drive the club, every club. If a club is supposed to be bigger than any one player or owner, then it follows that the fans ought to...

The average attendances for 07/08, 08/09, and 09/10 were: 19,123; 17,407; 17,305. Those just aren't the sort of numbers upon which you can build a Championship powerhouse.

    On a brighter note

It must be tough. Unless you're willing to follow other teams' spending patterns (ie likely go into debt), then you won't be able to keep up and will be fighting relegation. The sooner the Financial Fair Play rules come in the better!

    To the apathetic ones...

Sure, but that is almost certainly due to the lack of support. If the money from fans (support) dries up, then the losses escalate and we see more cost-cutting to plug the difference; but more cost-cutting means a poorer team, poorer results, less support, less money, etc. The cycle continues...

You can't support a club without supporting the owner.

Is There Anyone NOW that still believes we could stay up ?

This squad and this manager have had 27 games to show what a subpar force they are. Unless one or t'other is upgraded, then no, there's absolutely no reason whatsoever to believe we'd stay up.

    To the apathetic ones...

You're missing my point a bit, Moff. I'm not saying that SISU's non-investment policy is correct, nor am I saying that people shouldn't be pissed off. What I am saying is that the apathy has been with the fans who have said "no point sacking AT, we're going down" - and have been saying as much...

    Thorn and Sisu

I quite agree that the money should be reinvested, and I won't deny that SISU are utterly incompetent; just wishing to clarify the myths around here. There's so much misdirected criticism.

    To the apathetic ones...

For a long time now we've been hearing "we're doomed to relegation, no point sacking AT". So why get the knickers in a twist when a player is sold? Better than seeing him sold for a bag of beans in L1 or, worse, walking for nowt.

    Thorn and Sisu

One of the biggest myths going; it fits in with the 'SISU are evil asset-strippers' narrative, but is untrue. SISU are actually guilty of the opposite wrongdoing: not selling players soon enough.

    Juke is a gonner

Now is the time to sell him. Clearly we have accepted relegation. Juke will have a year left on his deal in the summer, his wages will likely be too high for a L1 club, and his value will certainly be lower.

Boycott the ricoh, new protest until sisu out

Settle down. Standing outside the ground for 15 minutes before walking in is hardly the definition of hyperactivity or heroism. If more fans were like the several thousand who paid for tickets, then the club wouldn't be in this mess. That's what supporting a club is about. When the 'real...

Time to man up and take the blame Thorn

It is not a waste of money. It is taking a comparatively small wager (Thorn's compensation) on a potentially bountiful return (money retained by staying in the Championship).
  18. Colonel Mustard

Time to man up and take the blame Thorn

The only way we could do worse is if a new manager averaged less than 0.76 points per game this season; over the past decade only four teams who have finished bottom have had a lower point average. Considering that we are as good as relegated, the risk of bringing in a new manager is...
  19. Colonel Mustard

Time to man up and take the blame Thorn

I think that is the crux of the matter. Considering that we have spent the majority of the season at the bottom of the table, and are currently 7 points adrift of safety, I'd argue that we could do no worse by bringing in a new manager. It might be a long shot to paddle on a piece of debris, but...

    Joe Elliott..Please explain

The difference being that AT's output is clear for all to see: results, tactics, press conferences, signings, performances - AT can be rigorously assessed. Joe Elliott? Not so easy. If you want to call him a poor communicator and a flip-flopper, that's fair enough. But if you want to put him...
