No, I could envisage a team with more resources than us taking him on a reduced wage to fulfil the same bit-part role he’s playing with us - not that I would envy them for that. What’s your point?

False allegations of rape are rare, at least according to the CPS they are. More on it here: Key facts about how the CPS prosecutes allegations of rape | The Crown Prosecution Service The CPS study showed 35 people prosecuted for falsely alleging rape in one 17-month period, compared to 5651...

Dunno. Be surprised if he was starting every week in the Championship for sure. Why do you ask?

I’m not sure that inconsistencies in someone’s story, or evidence of consensual sex taking place, is necessarily proof that something “dodgy” has happened, or that allegations have been out-and-out fabricated. I don’t know all the details though. I do think that the failure to convict shows...

“OK then Dave, we’re looking for four years at £x-000 a week, what do you reckon?” “How about the same salary, but for only two years, plus we’ll decide if we fancy keeping you on for a third year at the same price, take it or leave it” “Dammit Boddy, you genius, you’ve done it again - where...

I don’t have any evidence, other than it being basic negotiation strategy. Presumably you think his agent is ambivalent about the length of the deal when negotiating salary then? Tavares…Waghorn…how many other random strikers are you going to throw into the mix here? Neither of them have ever...

Because the first thing an agent is going to do when offered a two-year deal instead of a four-year one is to ask for a higher salary to make up for the lack of security.

I don’t know, but obviously a 2+1 year contract is going to be at a higher wage than a 4 year deal. (Unless his agent is a total moron/Boddy is a genius)

So you would rather he be on higher wages than the deal we actually gave him?

David Bell? Not sure. Is this another quiz?

If it’s at a reasonable wage (i.e. a hometown discount) and we’re confident that his injury problems have been down to bad luck rather than some kind of recurring problem, then I can see the case for it. Especially with a player whose best years may be ahead of him, and will likely be easy to...

Not sure why the Eccles deal can’t offer us value for money just because he wasn’t as good as a completely different player was ten years ago.

I think he means that a player who signs a 2.5 year contract with us and then spends (at least) a full year injured can be reasonably classed as injury prone.

He was 18 years old four years ago and then went out on loan - how many league games for us should he have started?

Given that our playing style currently seems to involve taking a lot of (often low-quality) shots, might he actually be a decent fit here? (Not that we could afford him, of course)

Can’t believe people thought England were world-beaters in 2021 with him starting every game in midfield.

Well “maximising every revenue stream we have” would make him a lot of money as the club’s owner. Personally I’m not opposed to him absorbing the costs of say, deals on ticket prices, or subsidised travel to games, but you seem to feel maximising profits is more important.

He owns CCFC now, he can absorb the costs if he wants to. If you want him to make as much money as possible out of it - even if it comes at fans’ expense - then that’s fine, but it’s not my priority.
