I'm not sure it did. He was kept on as an emergency option on a very low wage for the level. Had we had to bring someone else in it would have cost significantly more which may have meant we had to compromise more elsewhere.

3 years with an option is what you want to maximise a players value after a couple of seasons. 2+1 essentially means you'd have to sell after a season to get best value. Always a balancing act, risk Vs reward. At 2 years, even with an option, means you're turning the majority of the team over...

I'm not sure why you wouldn't write an extension clause into a players contract where you can. Gives the club flexibility.

The thing with Kastaneer is he is talented enough to play at this level. I don't know whether the issue is attitude or something else, but clearly he's just not trusted and/or not fit enough.

Comments I've seen from Ross County fans is that he seems more suited to a wing back role than the full back role he's been playing. Sounds like this is a development signing but circumstances mean he'll be thrust into being a backup immediately, so need to temper expectations a little.

Wouldn't say O'Hare isn't up to scratch. He's played pretty well, does a lot of good for the team, just needs to work on that end product. Jones, Jobello, Hillßner all been injured so hard to judge those. Bapaga is only just breaking through so shouldn't be putting too much pressure/expectation...

They need to contribute more. Goals have dried up since our 2 main strikers were injured, and now we've signed another striker so we've tried to solve that. I really like O'Hare but he doesn't really score enough. The other attacking midfielders have been a bit inconsistent to be honest.
