It’s just a much riskier way of doing a deal. It depends on both sides agreeing a value on three players rather than one, raising the odds of someone getting screwed. Whereas everyone knows the value of cash, and it gives you more flexibility - even if we want Twine and could agree on his value...

Player swap deals like that are almost always a bad idea - just get someone to give us the cash and let us buy who we want.

Always have to remember that owners don’t need to be our BFFs and our interests aren’t always aligned. Any owner trying too hard to be “one of us” is more suspicious and cringy than cool imo.

That’s a bit like saying it doesn’t hurt the atmosphere if there’s a massive gap between singer’s corner and the away fans so long as both sets of fans just sing louder. If you make it harder to let fans sit where they want, the atmosphere is harder to generate. End of story.

Again, the guy’s media training is surely non-existent - to go on air the morning after he’s hiked most fans’ season ticket prices and complain that it’s high time that someone other than him (the owner!) made some financial sacrifices for the club is just spectacular stuff.

He said himself that he’s prepared to spend the money on the club - if I see that translate to a better product on the pitch then I’m OK with it. Heard it before though.

I think he might want more than £15,000 a week extra.

That’s still a significant hike for many people, and one that many other clubs in our league decided against imposing. Fair enough if we chose to do different but we shouldn’t pretend it won’t affect the atmosphere, which until now made us a standout in this division.

If they all sell out it’s an extra £775,000 in revenue from what the same fans would have paid this season. So maybe enough for one year of Jamie Paterson?
