    My concern with Robins

Well he only took, what, three corners tonight? Against Rotherham he took multiple short corners when it became clear that the crosses weren’t working.

Get that clown out of goal

The bigger problem than any of his flubbed shots or crosses tonight is his continued lack of ability with the ball at his feet. Makes no sense to persevere with a new style of playing it out the back, while sticking with a keeper who’s always struggled with it - choose one or the other ffs

All of that is fair, but I thought he did a better job than usual of moving the team forward tonight (four key passes today, more than any other player). If we’d recruited properly in the summer then he wouldn’t even be in the first XI but he’s doing a better job than I expected. The set pieces...

MOTM is hardly a huge accolade tonight, but I thought Eccles did a lot very well, especially in the first half. His crossing is poor, but I’m not going to crucify him for stepping up and taking corners in the apparent absence of any other players being willing to take them on the right hand side.

    My concern with Robins

On the contrary, I’m sure he can. “Can’t be any worse” is rarely a good strategy for success at this level

I thought he had a decent game, and he’s more fun to watch than most players, but let’s not pretend he was putting in good crosses tonight - he wasn’t

    My concern with Robins

Well he’s already put Dasilva on corners from the left-hand side. I’m not sure the alternative option on the right-hand side is as obvious as you think it is.

Sakamoto had three crosses tonight, zero of them accurate

    My concern with Robins

If push comes to shove, we will go pragmatic and scrape out results…pack the midfield, go counter attacking, long throws, park the bus. All the same things we did in 2020/21 when it looked like we couldn’t buy a goal and we needed points to stay above the line. But we’re not there yet, nowhere...

Match Thread Coventry City - West Bromwich Albion Match Thread - Monday 30th Oct

Not sure if you heard his post match interview but it’s quite clear to everyone it’s not currently working. If he thought we were mired in a relegation battle after 13 games then it would make sense to change things asap but I’m not sure he agrees with you.

    Jay DaSilva Signs!

Absolutely shocking in the second half tonight. Final ball was dreadful.

    Transfer Rumour Haji Wright

I did notice Robins applauding the fans for singing Wright’s name after his second half miss - I wonder how long that backing from the fans will last.

Match Thread Coventry City - West Bromwich Albion Match Thread - Monday 30th Oct

Well I didn’t hear either of them declare we were in a potential relegation battle and it would be “bold” to suggest otherwise. Thankfully they know the difference between a crap performance and a crap bunch of players.

    Simms + Wright = ?

We have a big problem looming with these two - Robins has switched back to a lone striker system and is talking about how it suits Wright. But neither him nor Simms are in form, and neither of them will be content with sitting out most games - I’d be amazed if they signed under that proviso, at...

Match Thread Coventry City - West Bromwich Albion Match Thread - Monday 30th Oct

Sorry to interrupt another post-loss BSB meltdown, but as bad as we looked going forward, we absolutely didn’t look like relegation fodder tonight.

    Transfer Rumour Haji Wright

This system appears to suit him better than two up top, but there’s no denying he was miles off it tonight

    Long throws

Completely antithetical to the way Robins apparently wants us to play, but the way things are going they may well get introduced the same way they were in 2020/21.
