I too long for the return of playing the likes of VS Rugby in pre-season, rather than the current unpalatable trend of playing mid-table Bundesliga, La Liga and Serie A teams.

I’ve been going since the late 1980s and the atmosphere we generate now is the best I’ve ever known it. I think that’s the biggest reason for this upturn in interest. We don’t really ask for much -a competitive, sometimes exciting team with decent owners.

Looking forward to this - always liked playing foreign teams, despite the horrific memories of Benfica 1996. Surprised not more sold - surely an intriguing/ more interesting match than a piss-poor Everton.
