Loved Eoin Jess as a kid for some reason, even though I’m almost certain he was rubbish. Roland Nilsson probably too good to be a cult hero. I was totally ready to be in love with the idea of Kevin Thornton.

Be interesting to see what happens with Taylor - not aware of any great drama behind the scenes, but his next move may give a hint as to whether he’s chosen to leave us, or whether Doug has replaced him.

It’s a discussion forum. I think it’s perfectly reasonable for people to talk about things like this without it just being all ‘thoughts and prayers’. To draw an equivalence between people who don’t do that, and out-and-out racists, is quite odd imo.

I’m not sure how much this had to do with it, but if you seriously believe the papers weren’t actively trying to source other useable photos of the guy, or were only using the school photo because they wanted to portray him as an innocent kid then you need to lay off the conspiracy theories.

I don’t see any world where he gets a whole life tariff. Assuming they don’t uncover some evidence that this was all premeditated - and it certainly doesn’t seem that way so far.

The suggestion that the media was rushing to portray the Southport killer in a more favourable light - as if their readers were desperate for more sympathetic coverage of a deranged child murderer - always made zero sense.
