Reminds me of when we signed Kitching. We were linked with him for the entire summer and only signed him on deadline day. Could see the same happening with Hughes
Played LCB in a 3 for us and has played LB since, and we've been bidding for a right sided centre half instead. If we really wanted him that badly we'd have bid by now. They probably don't see him fitting what we need
A new striker does absolutely nothing to solve that. It's the same shit build up that is too predictable. A new forward comes in and would look exactly the same trying to win headers against two massive centre halfs every week
Doyle was good for us but he played on the left of a back three and has been played predominantly at left back since. Hughes the better option for a back four and much better in the air
Haji was better on the left when we played on the counter with Robins and he had more space to run into. Under Lampard we spend more time camped outside the opponents box and you need a dribbler who's better in tight spaces like EMC to play in that system.
Am I the only one that thinks we need a winger much more than a striker? Haji is obviously going to play through the middle when he's fit and we have no like for like depth on either the left or right.
Reading the reports that have come out today it's pretty obvious he didn't want to leave Belgium. If he really wanted to sign for us, we'd have wrapped it up a while ago, given we've been linked to him for at least a month.
The foreign journos definitely seem to get the news when the deals are nearly done, whereas the Alan Nixons and Alex Crooks of the world will just tweet out whatever a player's agent tells them to to drum up interest
Transfers don't really work like that. That 15m was likely just some boring accountancy measure. You don't have to have money in the club like it's a current account to be able to sign players.
