Match Thread Coventry v Sunderland Championship Playoff 1st Leg Friday 9th May

Didn’t get a chance to post* directly after the game Friday and yesterday was mental, but on reflection of the game, I thought we played okay, but lacked any real quality in the final third - Sunderland defended brilliantly it has to be said and were clinical when they had their chances. We are...

Playoff Semi Final 1st Leg Bristol City - Sheffield Utd 08/05/25 8pm ko

The terminology used states “non-deliberate” probably should’ve gone word for word.

No, the rule states that the action from the defending player has to be deemed as accidental to avoid a red.

Listened to this earlier in the background whilst at work, I thought it was pretty balanced. If already posted then please ignore.

Match Thread Coventry v Sunderland Championship Playoff 1st Leg Friday 9th May

Got to make home advantage count on Friday, if we play to our potential I think we will be too much for them. If we can take a 2/3 goal lead to Sunderland, perfect scenario. Only one change for me from Saturday, JDS back in for Bidwell. Hopefully EMC back on the bench.

Does anyone know of places showing the second leg in the City, I assume SBT, but does anyone know about the Empire, etc?

Thanks for jumping on our forum to give us a bit of insight. My view of your team is that when you played us at the Arena a month or so ago you were very poor and far from the team that played well during the first half of the season. My personal view of that game is that we didn't really come...

Sunderland is who all we preferred in the PO’s let’s be honest. They’ve got some good players and it won’t be easy, but got to make the most of this first leg at home. Take a lead up to Sunlun if we can.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing isn’t it. I think what all of us fans knew when Robins got sacked was that the team was better than 17th in the league. Fair play to Frank and his team who have come in and achieved that. The job isn’t done yet though.

    Play Off Final Holiday Clash

Not great planning it has to be said. There won’t be a third kid that’s for sure! That being said, due to some circumstances out of control it looks like baby we will be born ahead of schedule. So fingers crossed if Cov makes it, so will I.

It’s all well and good a keeper being good with his feet and it’s justifiable to keep in the team on that basis, but he’s made several poor judgements or his shot stopping has been poor which has cost us what 9+ points, that could have us comfortable in the playoffs.

I wouldn’t say he’s sacrificing results purposely SG, what I would say is Lampard is too stubborn to change the personnel or formation, I assume because he believes his own judgement. Lampard will see the players on the training pitch and behind closed doors, if he has a reason for picking...

I would add that the reasoning for continuing Collins under scrutiny from pundits, other pros in the game and from fans also needs to be explained by Lampard. I tweeted CWR last week asking them to ask the question post game, instead of Clive's usual drivel, but alas nothing.

It was only two years ago KOK that Wilson was Golden Glove winner in the Championship, he's always been pretty reliable for us. Whilst I agree it's not a game changer, Wilson over Collins is certainly an upgrade.

Having no keeper is still better than Collins in goal.
