    Immigration and Asylum

I personally think there’s a gap between those who ostensibly support mass deportations, and those who fully appreciate the reality of how you achieve that.

I thought people only did this because they were patriotic?

    Immigration and Asylum

I’m curious to know how the supporters of mass deportation programs in this country would expect our own scheme to look much different.

This late-night “oist” maybe “would off” worked better if you’d tried harder with the spelling David - keep trying and I’m sure you’ll graduate to crayons soon

    Immigration and Asylum

At some point the UK will have to decide how much it really wants to imitate the US in terms of immigration enforcement

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

In principle, the idea of a streamlined app where you can store all your government documents and use them to quickly sort out things like NHS treatment, tax returns, right-to-work etc is a good idea. But in practice I have pretty much zero faith in the British government to do it well, and...

Another vintage Starmer scheme tailor-made to piss off the left, and be too tame for the right.

    Championship thread 25/26!

I read your initial post just fine. Blackburn Rovers can appeal all they like, they aren’t going to waste resources on a court battle, hence why I laughed at the suggestion. Thanks for the insincere smiles though!

It’s harsh in the sense they are unlikely to find themselves a goal and a man up with 10 minutes to go in the replayed fixture. There’s a difference between harsh and unfair.

No, but precedents do tend to influence the outcome of court cases - I’ll be very surprised if it goes to the CAS.

    Championship thread 25/26!

My thoughts are that it’s very harsh on Blackburn but there’s enough of a precedent there that means going to court would be a total waste of time (and isn’t going to happen anyway)

Match Thread Coventry City - Birmingham City Match Thread - Saturday 27th Sep

I love the optimism, but I’ve seen us lose plenty of games where we’ve played well against inferior teams!

I get why they do it - there’s clearly a market for it and people seem to like partisan commentary (same as everything these days). I just wish some of them had some actual insight, they seem to rely on all the same cliches that the normal commentators use.

Just Stop Oil targeting the world’s largest electric car company is unbelievably dumb

    Embarrassing

Seems odd that such a controversial UK story doesn’t appear to have been reported on anywhere except a regional Indian newspaper, no? Even the Daily Mail, which this report supposedly cites, doesn’t have a single article on it. Why do you think that is?

Said it before, but I can’t imagine anything worse than being sat in front of one of these amateur commentators trying to narrate everything for their vlog.

    EMC - The new Sheaf?

By this logic, Walsall’s academy would currently be more attractive than ours because it offers a clearer path to first team football. Young players, quite naturally and understandably, want to play for the best team they can.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

I don’t think politics in this country can get any more banal than this - from the crime, to the punishment, to the target, to the motivation…. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cz08nx7ylljo
