Do you want to discuss boring politics?

So if I have this right - your argument here is that the BBC is firmly on the side of misrepresentation, but forces out any senior executives who are seen to be actually doing it?

    Simms and Assante

You usually get at least one or two slapstick moments from Simms which can make him look awful, and that was the case again today, but he generally applied himself very well. Something about him seems to inspire some people to go absolutely mental with criticism but he’s in very good form.

If the BBC’s purpose is to misrepresent, why would the DG and Head of News resign?

An interesting argument from JBM in the FT on why hiking taxes on the rich may not be the way to go https://removepaywalls.com/https://www.ft.com/content/75ce2fba-f6df-4d72-a5a4-0a297d50891f

    Championship thread 25/26!

The renderings of the inside look quite nice in an American baseball stadium kind of way, but then I saw a blatant spelling mistake on one of the stands and remembered it was all nonsense again.

    Championship thread 25/26!

It’s a city that used to have quite a varied cultural footprint but the whole place is just Peaky Blinders cosplay now, it’s tragic.

    Immigration and Asylum

The issue is that you believe that society can be conveniently divided into ‘productive’ and ‘unproductive’ categories, often defined by characteristics that aren’t necessarily predictive of their economic status (i.e. whether they were born in this country) and often splitting hairs over what...

    Attendances

Yeah, I do think you lose something from the atmosphere by not having a big away following when there’s the demand for it. Thats true of our away games when we get a small allocation and it’s true at the CBS too. Good that we have the flexibility to fill it ourselves - just incumbent on us now...

    Immigration and Asylum

A double whammy, you say? I guess there isn’t such a big difference between welfare payments and public services after all. So this brings me back to my original question - why are children (who pay no tax and consume years worth of public services) exempted from your “unproductive” bracket of...

    Immigration and Asylum

Whether or not you believe it’s successful in its implementation, isn’t this what the (also taxpayer-funded) welfare system is set up for?

    Immigration and Asylum

So if I pay no tax but consume vast amounts of free public services, am I considered a productive member of society so long as I don’t also claim any welfare benefits?

    Immigration and Asylum

So the 12 years of state-provided education that I received as a child at zero personal expense to myself doesn’t count as a state handout….because it comes out of the education budget? What are you even talking about at this point?

    Immigration and Asylum

Children don’t get state handouts? I don’t recall getting a monthly invoice for my primary school education when I was 6, but ok. If the UAE is your model for what a functioning society (and welfare state, and attitude to migration) should look like then that says it all.
