    More to come

I lost ten minutes of my life reading about how loopy Lars Elstrup had become thanks to that (flashing his knob for money being one highlight / lowlight)

    Slade gone

I don't really know what we do next. We've tried experience in Mowbray, a seasoned and successful L1 manager in Slade, a rookie in Thorn, a (so called) up-and-comer in Pressley. What's left to try? This club is fundamentally broken.

Karl Robinson interview... what the fans want to hear, but players?

The decision to get rid of Vincelot was, for me, the turning point. The one player in the squad who would never give up no matter how good / bad he was playing. We have a team of players that are disconnected from the fans and who show little desire on the pitch, in turn creating an even wider...

    Pick your CCFC Has-beens XI

To be fair, Joachim bagged a fair few in the last year of his contract. Sadly, he was dog plop for the first couple of years though.

    Slade Rumour

Slade has 2x L1 Manager of the Year awards, the last one only 2 or 3 seasons ago. He clearly isn't a bad manager. That said, he has proved that he can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear, but I struggle to believe that any manager at our level could have turned this woeful squad into anything...

    Next Manager

Pressley was the worst manager we've had in my living memory, not just because of results (although they were bad) but because of the absolute pile of dog plop football that we played. I would rather give up football altogether than watch him serve up the vomit inducing style of play again...

The last 30 years with a comparison

It's such a shame we never got to play in Europe the following season. It may have transformed the club: a few extra glory seekers coming to support, a higher profile, a couple more quid in the coffers, an extra player or two attracted to the club. The CCFC we know could have been very different.

Match Thread Coventry v Swindon Match Thread - Saturday 25th Feb

Heart: 2-0 win. Head: 2-0 loss. Probably a scrappy nil-niller then.

    Jordan Willis

I'm most certainly not comparing the two, but John Terry didn't exactly have blistering pace and, while I'm not his biggest fan, he was arguably the best old-style centre-back of his generation. Turnbull is a pound shop version of that style player, and it does have a role to play even in the...

Wolves. Steve Bull almost single-handedly took them back up to the second tier.

    Peter Ramage

In the not so dim and distant past, journalists were sought-after because of the quality of their reporting (which then increased sales) Now it's all about the clicks and views and likes - the same measure of 'success' from the employers point of view, but very little quality journalism for the...

    Slade's post Oldham interview .....

Apart from the pesky Colonel Square, who actually pronounced it Main-Wearing. I just knew watching all those re-runs as a kid would come in handy one day.

I think that was our one league goal for the month tbh.

    Striker situation

Paul Warhurst for Sheff Weds did similar back in the day. Ended up as a tough-tackling midfielder iirc. It was a fairly common tactic but seems to have fallen out of fashion.

    Transfer Rumour Carlton Cole

Talksport (well, the legend that is Bob Mills) was reporting that Cole was in talks today.

    Relegation thread

Semi-Final of a cup competition, the same stage that we sold 30,000 tickets for only a handful of years ago, and now we're going to get 12k or so. When 60 percent of your 'customers' don't want to shop with you any more, it's time to roll down the shutters.

    Yakubu

Beavon and Yakubu could work. Hard-worker with a focal point to lay it off to. I'm optimistic that with those two up top we'll be relegated in April rather than March.

How do we get out of this mess

I can't see us getting 11 points during the rest of the season.

How do we get out of this mess

We're down. I lived through many of the Great Escapes, but those teams had fight and grit. This group of players doesn't. They almost exclusively have defeat ingrained in them. My biggest worry isn't this season. It's next. I'm convinced we'll be fighting to retain Football League status this...

Anyone else have the feeling that we'll be at the bottom of League Two this time next year unless something drastic happens? I've already ordered my Vauxhall Conference on Tour T-Shirt.
