    Match Thread Sheffield Utd (a) - 12:30 - Sat 20th

We're winning the midfield battle through workrate and bodies in there at the moment. They're going sideways, backwards and hopeful channels now. We're quite similar, as the midfield aren't getting beyond Gyokeres enough as a consequence, but Gyokeres is more mobile than Sharp so is causing more...

If we could get a picture with him and Amanda Staveley that'd be the scarecrow and the lion. We'd just need a tinman and we'd have most of the cast of Wizard of Oz.

My daughter just started crying. She said watching Billy Sharp and McFadzean chasing that ball into the channel reminded her of when the horse got stuck in quicksand and died in Neverending Story.

    Bournemouth tickets

My mate who is a big city fan was well up for this idea - walking in single file is kind of his thing. Haven't had the heart to tell him he won't be able to leave the house though. One of the drawbacks about being an ant i suppose.

And today's match thread is a classic example of why I've avoided it in real time this season. Empty vessels....

    Bright and Robins

Well he was right about the 'flying Bright' part. I'm just not sure he meant back to a pub league in India.

    Brights contract cancelled

He's so well known that the BBC have used a picture of Tavares (I think).

    Michael Rose

Purely speculation but I did wonder if Rose had spoken out of turn after finding out he was dropped for the game and was being taught a lesson. Just couldn't find any other logic in the decision to not have him in the squad at all.

Away games , midfield pairing relative to performance

Robins spoke after the Luton game about needing a different approach away from home. Has anyone identified anything in the 2 games since? Have injuries, illness and suspensions stopped him from doing what he wanted? Away games have been problematic for us since Robins returned. In L2 we failed...

    The Penalty

There's not much deflection here, he blames the ref for the penalty but not the loss: "It's something that I don't like to say but I have to apologise to our fans. The second half was wrong. Everything was all wrong from the beginning to the end. "We controlled the first half, scored early and...

What was the difference from Luton to Fulham?

What was the difference from Luton to Fulham?

The Robins way for most of his 2nd time here now has generally been to keep things tight in the first half and then go for it when the game opens up in the 2nd half of games. I think part of the reason that has worked so well at home is the away team 'a point away from home is a good result'...

    The Penalty

Of course it's right. The 2 game ban is for actually conning the ref into giving us a penalty, unlike a real time yellow for attempting to con him and failing. Are the rules applied consistently and fairly? No. But we won, the points are ours and we have plenty of time to focus on Blackburn...

    Walker

It's a lot easier to be patient when you're a 4th choice striker around a club in the top 6 than the bottom 6.

    Quest

My worry for this season now is tanking after Christmas, like Hamer did last season. We've play a pretty settled side, can they maintain the intensity we play at over a whole season without their form dipping due to fatigue? In some ways these suspensions might be a good thing. Not sure Hamer...

    Liam Kelly

Both he and especially Sheaf played higher up the pitch in the 2nd half when in possession and it changed the entire dynamic of the team, helped of course by an early goal and a dodgy pen. Some of threads about him in the L2 season still make me angry. :ROFLMAO:
