    On a positive note…

I don’t know how you can argue this one with a straight face. We signed several players capable of making an impact, we’re just choosing to only play one of them.

    Next season

The fact we are still top and with a cushion to third place notwithstanding should tell you something about how strong we were at the start of the season, and how much room there is for things to change (for better or worse).

    Autos or Play Offs

My dog has more of a sense of perspective than this place does after a loss. And we didn’t even lose yesterday!

    Oh please just fuck off

    It’s a shame it’s ended this way…

Apparently we didn’t need him yesterday after all though - could’ve fooled me.

    It’s a shame it’s ended this way…

It’s not that I don’t rate Bamford (I suggested we should sign him when he was training here), it’s that I don’t trust Lampard to not just muddle through the same tactics anyway. That’s what he’s done with almost every other signing we’ve made this season. We can sign as many new players as we...

    It’s a shame it’s ended this way…

Whether or not KKH was a “succession signing”, the reality is that he’s been totally misused this season.

New signings only make an impact when they’re properly integrated into the team and the tactics change accordingly. Have you seen any evidence of Lampard doing that this season?

I’m glad you agree with me that signing new players is less important than the tactics in that case.

    It’s a shame it’s ended this way…

The point is that just signing players in whichever position you’re annoyed with in any given week, without doing anything to address the side’s underlying tactical problems, is not a recipe for an instant turnaround. As we’ve seen the past couple of weeks.

    Why didn’t he play yesterday?

    It’s a shame it’s ended this way…

I’ve not exaggerated anything, it’s a statement of fact. We’ve devoted significant resources to the players listed above - Onyeka won’t even play until mid-February now for some reason. Our fans have howled for a different position every week depending on who played badly last game, and we’ve...

The answer to this is that our existing backup to Wright has started five times in the past two months and scored three goals in the process.

He seems to rate the players being brought into the club before his arrival just fine.

Sixteen starts. That’s the combined total of our seven outfield signings this year. A quarter of those are from Esse!

Tactically - Lampard is pretty good

Lampard has been backed in the transfer market this season, he’s just chosen not to play the players we’ve signed. Seven outfield signings this season and 16 starts between them.

    It’s a shame it’s ended this way…

Literally every week it’s a different case of “If only we’d signed [x]”, depending on who played badly in the last match. Lampard has made seven outfield signings this season and as of today he hasn’t really managed to properly integrate a single one into the team.

    It’s a shame it’s ended this way…

The notion that it’s not signing Bamford that has scuppered our season - when three of our strikers are currently joint sixth in the top scorer charts and have each outscored him - seems like more of a reaction to a bad game from Haji yesterday than serious analysis of why we’re currently...

    Lampard

The narrative from Lampard (no doubt shared by many on here) will be that he hasn’t been sufficiently backed in the transfer market and was never going to be able to sustain the title-winning form with such a small squad. But throughout the season he’s done a poor job of integrating new signings...

    25/26 January Transfer Window

Loath am I to interrupt another pity party, but I struggle to see which signings could override a manager who seems to have given up on tactical flexibility. I don’t have much confidence that Lampard even knows how (or if!) to integrate these new players into the team, it’s been an issue...
