Choosing to organise a rumble at a monastery rather than a pub car park actually shows a profound commitment to Christian values.

The census data also shows that the percentage of the population identifying as Christian is collapsing, and the number of people identifying as having no religion is surging even faster. Would not be surprising at all if ‘No religion’ is the largest single group at the next census.

Institutionally speaking, it’s a Christian country. The head of state has to be an Anglican and the heads of the Church of England automatically get a seat in the House of Lords etc. But in cultural terms, church attendance plummeted after lockdown and has never really recovered.

Really hope it’s not this, would be absolutely devastating for me financially.
