Nope. Point of the post was not really about a AFC Coventry at all, but rather, just how far City fans would go to in supporting this club and to what lengths. Hypothetical and almost certainly never to happen. Just wanted to gauge if City fans would stick with the club at the lowest level. My...

Not drastic. Talking here hypothetically in terms of if CCFC no longer existed. If the City had no football team other than those at amateur level such as Sphinx etc.

It is the fans that make the club for sure. A new club for me would be the Sky Blues. I'm sure all the Wimbledon fans still the same songs. All they have done in reality is change grounds. Nuneaton Borough will always be Nuneaton Borough despite their changing their name to town. If we...

Think you will find that at the moment we are very much an amateur side.

    AFC Coventry

Not for me. It would be Coventry City FC in all but name. Same fans, same kit, same Sky Blues, same songs. You get the likes of Sillet and Gould onboard then how is that not Coventry City?

    Managerial Prediction

    1. AT leaves by 'mutual consent' at Christmas. 2. Lee Carsley takes over.. 3. Lee Carsley sacked on New Year's Eve after one game in chage. 4. Oggy takes over and for his first game in charge picks Joe Murphy, Chris Dunn, Danny Ireland and Lee Burge in his first team 11. We draw...

Even if they were to say get John Sillet and Bobby Gould as Life Presidents?

    Next 12 games.. struggle

Wish we could delete our poor form which is a month old.

Anyone else losing confidence in Thorn?

We are now 15 games in. Certainly the record is now up for analysis. None of this it;s too early to make judgement and things may improve. We are where we belong and we have just 2 wins in 15 games and have only scored 11 times. That is pretty pathetic for sure.

Well I was just trying to throw a glimmer of hope in these desperate times. People are at their wits end about this beloved club, but if the worst came to the worst then there is always this crumb of comfort to be had. I think if there were no Coventry City then a new AFC Coventry would get...

Not talking about abandoning CCFC. Wasn't trying to offer AFC Coventry as an alternative, only if we no longer had a club. If CCFC no longer was in existence. I think if we no longer had a club the fanbase would be very good indeed for a non league team.

    Why on the GMK forum

Yes it has. But don't you find the prospect of starting out completely afresh exciting?

    We would be Coventry Phoenix.

Was just a scenario though of if CCFC didn't exist anymore, Stu. Of course we want them to exist and it would be very, very unlikely the club will ever go bust, but just thought it would be interesting to gauge how many people would follow a new AFC club.

Our current squad IS good enough to survive.

Yep. Getting a little fed up with all this 'unlucky' tag. We have not bee unlucky. We have not been good enough.
  16. Otis

    Why on the GMK forum

Exactly. We have had to endure that for 11 years in the Championship. Why would it be such a problem with a completely fresh start and the backroom team and board the fans want behind the scenes?
  17. Otis

    AFC Coventry

Agree. Don't see how we can just throw our weight around and take over another club.
  18. Otis

    Why on the GMK forum

Push through the leagues? You just get a good squad together and give yourselves about 8-10 years to get back to a competitive level, i.e. Conference.
  19. Otis

    AFC Coventry

Agree. i would find the whole thing exciting after so much turmoil for what seems like an eternity.

Think we need to put all that to one side and deal with the here and now to be honest.
