He came down for a trial with Ray Gooding and signed him instead :(

    Boro player ratings

Despite his top performance last night Sakamoto will not get an assist stat for the 1st goal, or statistical credit for the cross which Wright headed against the post, or for his excellent defensive coverage. That means the next time we don't get a result certain posters will come on here...

    Offsides

An offside issue that has started to grate me is from our attacking free kicks where someone (usually Wright) stands yards ahead goalside of the defence, I presume hoping to prevent being blocked off by his marker, but banking on the defence retreating before the kick is taken and then playing...

    Dirtiest Coventry City Team

From what I've read we managed games well when we were promoted in the 60's. With George Curtis as captain I guess that's not surprising. That was a long time ago though!

    Loan watch

Hopefully Perry's got it in him to step up. Would really be handy to have a home grown talent able to fill a position we are struggling with.

    When The Going Gets Tough...

Man City won the title in 1968. According to Toffs we officially became the Sky Blues in 1962, although we first wore Sky Blue in the 19th century. https://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Coventry_City/Coventry_City.htm

    Transfer Rumour Romain Esse

He also played a part in the winner against Millwall. While Sakamoto has not contributed goals and criticism for that is valid, I think the assists stat is slightly misleading, not only because of his unattributed contributions to the winners against Leicester and Millwall but also due to our...

It will be the new Sutton

No we won't. With all the noise around the PL, Champions League and upcoming World Cup, we will barely enter the consciousness of the wider football world whatever happens.

    Our Two Strikers

Although Simms has scored a few headed goals recently most have been from a few yards out that he couldn't miss. I might be wrong but I don't recall seeing him score or even get in position to score from the type of chance Wright missed. For a player of his physique Simms gets dominated in the...

    Our Two Strikers

Not saying he shouldn't have brought Simms on at some point but I'm guessing in respect of the 2nd leg FL had penalties in the back of his mind, and would have seen Wright as a better option in that scenario than Simms. In retrospect though when Eccles was forced off right at the end when we...

Match Thread Coventry City - Oxford United Match Thread - Saturday 7th Feb

Tend to agree on this, although I might have brought in Woolfenden for Kitching. Oxford were never going to provide much of an attacking threat, and it was a good chance to get a bit of defensive confidence back before the Middlesbrough game, but now because we had a clean sheet I guess we will...

    Unacceptable

Don't forget the 0-0 draw against Boltons under 11's in our League 1 promotion year

Match Thread Coventry City - Oxford United Match Thread - Saturday 7th Feb

Yes, because we got a clean sheet Woolfenden & Lati will be seen as a good option against Boro, but our central defenders won't get an easier game all season. Boro will provide much more threat. They also offered us little from the many attacking set pieces we had though, and even with the clean...

I tell you one of the most worrying things about our drop in form

I get the same feeling when people quote the 'as it stands' table. The ifollow stream did it when we were 1-0 up on Saturday and Ipswich were losing and gave us something like an 8 point gap on Ipswich. it's just asking the football God's to kick you in the balls!

    No PLAN B

We've scored a number of goals this season from long throws so you are wrong. Where I will agree is that I don't think it is always wise for MVE to come over and take long throws from the left, whereby he is automatically way out of position once he's taken it.

The difference was also that Kone was always on the move, whereas Simms and then Wright were both pretty static and easier to mark.

Who do we think we are?

The 'Invincibles' thread looks even more ridiculous now!

    Lats and Wolf

Neither are playing well at the moment but I would stick with Thomas. I would definitely bring in Woolfenden for Kitching though, and away from home consider adding Lati into a back 5.
