Isn't there some rule that if its a season long loan they can't be recalled? That could be the reason, gives them the option to have him back in Jan if needed. If he's playing well and happy here and not going to get in Newcastle's first team there's no reason it can't be extended.

If his wages were cheap and he was happy to be a backup I suppose he might be worth keeping around. WOuldn't be top of my list if we're trying to stretch the budget as far as possible though.

Think they should stop. All you have to do is make sure everyone's contract is tiered so they get different pay in different divisions and they're no longer needed. They're getting bigger and bigger, just makes things uncompetitive.
