Match Thread Coventry City - Millwall FC Match Thread - Sunday 29th Dec

It wasn‘t an exciting match, but there were some interesting tactical things that you can see when you’re at the game. 1) We were trying to play that Pep-style 3-2-5 in possession, especially in the first half. I swear I even saw some Rico Lewis style runs from Bidwell. 2) Millwall set up in a...

EMC was fantastic today, great one on one, always looking to get in scoring positions, and the right amount of physicality for this league. Also enjoyed Rudoni and the way he links up with EMC. Two midfielders both trying to get into scoring positions; could be massive for us this season.

I don’t think it’s players not giving their all, which is why I thought Wilder‘s criticisms were wrong. I absolutely agree with you on leadership and mentality though. We‘ve always had leaders in the team and the dressing room, I think they’re missing at the moment.

Presumably the new manager was watching, I think he’ll be encouraged by what he saw. We have some good players and major surgery is not required. A settled formation, a couple of key additions in January and a winning mentality could transform us.

Blackburn - we were much better and swept them aside. Boro - probably the closest thing to it as the 3 flattered us. I mean those close fought, unmemorable games where the important thing is to win. Promotion is built on winning those forgettable games. Last time we played Sheff Utd at home is...

Match Thread Coventry City - Sheffield United Match Thread - Saturday 23rd Nov

How we played yesterday is pretty close to how we were playing under Robins. Think Robins would‘ve started BTA for Bassette yesterday, but other than that I think it’s similar. We were playing OKish under Robins, but with the same problems we had yesterday. The most ridiculous thing about this...

Some interesting take away from the game 1) the fact that Carr is interim manager ahead of Delaney and Boateng is quite telling. They are former pros and in theory more experienced than he is. Have also seen quotes from the players commenting on Carr‘s level of detail. I hope that he’ll have a...

Never said it was, just that fourth place was hardly a given under those circumstances.

Don’t forget they were under a transfer embargo in his first year and he couldn’t sign any players

    Frank Lampard Rumours

You can make two entirely plausible narratives about his career from the available data. One in which he’s a promising manager who has taken teams to the playoffs and the Champions League, one in which he’s a nepo baby promoted beyond his abilities, proved by his last two jobs. Reality is that...

Match Thread Watford (a) - Sat 14th Sept

Can’t say I’m feeling optimistic, we were dismal against Norwich. Biggest problem this season is how easy we are to press. Nunez was always open for a pass for Norwich and they could get up the pitch by playing through him. In contrast we had Torp and Eccles, neither of whom can receive the...
