Without knowing how good he is, we do need an extra, good defender back there - particularly as we are bound to pick up knocks, suspensions during the season. Not sure why you don't think we do (assuming your post was sarcastic - apologies if it wasn't).

It was a gift in that it fell nicely for him, but he had to hit it as he was falling, and being challenged from behind.

Agree with the areial aspect of his game - McCallum had a real leap, good timing when it came to challenging in the air.
