    All purpose cricket thread

Here is the incident. http://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/cricket/10612194/buttlers-outburst-at-bangladesh Most of the Bangladeshi players appear to just be celebrating, but there are a few taunting Buttler a little too wildly after the decision in my opinion. Umpires need to calm...

    All purpose cricket thread

Anyone else think it is only a matter of time before a player lamps someone in a major cricket match? Watching the England v Bangladesh game yesterday and have to say, the celebration and taunting of Jos Buttler following his dismissal, was way over the top. The pundits were saying he is...

You too, Daz. May the Bluebird of Happiness not shit on your head, or suddenly die of avian flu mid-flight.

    Things that annoy you

Nope. I agree. When you see just one small, single rose, you think, this isn't too bad, but all too often, once someone has got one, they tend then to go a bit crazy and keep getting them done. For me personally, I see it as a fashion fad and of course things do go out of fashion. Such a long...

This dressing up as a clown craze

I did note that in the US students are going on clown hunts and are trying to find clowns and chase them down. You're right, Nick and you are hardly going to be able to escape by blending in with the crowds are you! Not unless you are very close by a clown convention.p somewhere.

This dressing up as a clown craze

Yep, gathered that. ;) Think the police themselves have said there isn't anything wrong with people just dressing up as clowns. Intimidating and harassing though they will treat differently. Bit worrying that people are hanging round schools and following children while carrying knives. A bit...

This dressing up as a clown craze

Do I take it from these couple of comments from posters on here that although it is against the law to carry a knife in public, it is absolutely fine if they are dressed as a clown? ;)

This dressing up as a clown craze

To be fair though, you can choose to answer the door or not. You can also choose to open the door and then close it on people. Grown men in clown outfits upsetting and scaring children and following them around while carrying knives is surely a tad more worrying. Unless of course you get...

This dressing up as a clown craze

It's the harassment aspect. Some are chasing people and some are following people around and some are carrying knives. The whole idea is to frighten people and it is being done to kids especially. Think if someone is following kids carrying a knife that must warrant police intervention, surely.

Anyone else ever get fleeting moments of glory?

I won a prize in the Today newspaper's competition. First prize was £20,000 and a luxury holiday. When I opened the letter to say I won though, it was just a satellite dish as a consolation prize.

This dressing up as a clown craze

I saw a load of them a couple of weeks back. It was at the circus though, so I decided against getting the police involved. If I had their engine would have exploded and the wheels fallen off.

    Shops that are gone

Yep, at Kingfield Road and still there, though it has been taken over. Used to be a steel stockist, but would also supply all the tools and nits and bolts and screws to the shop in Hales Street. It was a big store.

Anyone else ever get fleeting moments of glory?

I remember a lad I used to work with doing a Daily Mirror competition. It was a simple question and you had to phone your answer through. They then picked one random right answer out of a hat. Anyway, this guy came to me to check he had got the answer right (it was a completely obviously dumb...

    Shops that are gone

I used to work there. They still have a place I think, Kingfield Road. The company has been going since about 1750. The shop was in Hales Street and the warehouse in Kingfield Road. I worked there for 3 years in the late 70's.

This dressing up as a clown craze

In Essex the police say there have been a number of incidents of people dressed as clowns hanging around outside schools during the school day. :( Cases in Scotland and Wales too. Guessing we will see an increase at Halloween for sure.
