If I was trying to assess Gareth Southgate, he's a top guy who you can imagine gets players to keep a cool head, and is extremely pragmatic, but you could never imagine him giving a Shankly (look him up if you're a youngster) type speech to get the players in a 'let's rip their throats out'...
