It's bollocks opinion to say we're not spending money. We are, and we have all been surprised at how much. The squad build has to be a 2 year plan - so we'll need money for future windows and hopefully not have to be in a position where we need sell our best players throughout that time.

He’s U23 and a proven Championship goal scorer, not sure he’d be available for less than £5m.

Possibly but if Doug wants to have a sustainable club for more than just the next couple of years he’ll need to invest in the play squad. As evidenced, that’s how you can actually make money.

If that’s right, good deal. It seems the club know more about negotiation than those who were desperate to sell to the first reported offer… Here’s hoping we get at least half of that to reinvest in acquisitions over the next couple of years.

Seems a lot but I suppose it depends how it’s packaged and how confident we are that we can increase the player value. If so it’s just an asset we’re investing in, e.g. Vik. Ultimately the better we get the more we’re going to have to spend on these types.

I think a moot point though. We’ll accelerate past most teams in terms of signings in the coming weeks. But until this week, not much has happened anywhere.
