I'm not sure you can say that about defenders to be honest. Baresi and Maldini were products of the 80s. Although todays defenders don't have the luxury of being able to wipe a player out in the first few minutes just to 'let them know they're there' and not get a yellow for it.

I had it took about 3 weeks to go. Finished a game of 5 a side, everything fine, woke up in the morning could hardly walk. Was in quite a lot of pain for 3 weeks then woke up one morning and it was gone, absolutely fine again, strange injury.

the thing is he was fouled 53 times during that world cup, a record. The players trying to stop him broke the law to try and achieve their aims and so did he. Be great if it wasn't like that but sadly it is.
