Student loan interest - an absolute disgrace

What pisses me off and maybe I’m being unreasonable is I feel like I’m being punished for choosing a decent degree. If I’d got an arts degree and earned bugger all my education would cost me less despite being valued the same at point of “sale”.

Student loan interest - an absolute disgrace

Im not sure. Does it tell you on your account anywhere? I can’t see it. Been paying my undergrad loan for almost 20 years but on a much lower wage and it’s just over two thirds gone IIRC, post grad I’ve been paying for almost 5 years and it’s gone down 20%. So on those figures I’d expect to pay...

Student loan interest - an absolute disgrace

No I don’t mind: £70k, with post grad and under grad loans. It’s not putting me in poverty but I’d be lying if I said it didn’t grate.

Student loan interest - an absolute disgrace

The length of time I’m paying does. My post grad loan has barely gone down in five years of paying it. It’s fucking depressing.

£500/mo off my salary makes quite a big difference thanks.

Student loan interest - an absolute disgrace

And they were a shit idea. Blair did a lot of good in compulsory education but the FE/HE strategy was a clusterfuck. Not seen it improve in the 12 years since mind. The wallpaper the previous owners left in my living room is shocking, but I’ve only got my own laziness to blame for it still...

Match Thread Birmingham City (A) - Fri 15th April

So if I’m abroad and VPN back to the U.K. I’ll be able to watch? Anyone any ideas what time the full replay comes on? I’m in Paris with the family for the day so unlikely to watch it live but would like to get the proper experience when I get back to the hotel if I can avoid the score (both...

100%. Public transport generally is a multiplier as well. Grows the talent pool for companies, spreads house price rises out a bit. How hard it was for me to commute to Warwick without a car was a joke.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Nah it was people buying a cheap hit job. Brown did very well and we had more surpluses than most governments under his chancellorship. The only mistake I’ll lay at his door for the GFC was deregulating banks too much, but everyone was at it and the opposition would have gone further so even...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

For me capitalism is great for innovation and choice through competition. The only thing utility companies can differentiate on is customer service and frankly they’re all shit and it’s such a secondary concern anyway. Rail is a little more complex but generally same deal I want to get from a...

Green levies are a bad policy, should be paid with borrowing for exactly this reason.

Then cut VAT for 6 months. This is exactly the sort of situation, along with importing food from cheaper areas that was sold as the reason for Brexit.

Wasn’t the whole point of Brexit we could be more nimble in response to events?

Leaving aside the hate the poor aspect, what the fuck is that meal? It’s just random shit thrown together.

I mean they’re all Tories. There’s no good choices but there’s some who aren’t possible foreign assets, dishonest, incompetent, etc. Also the Tories know damn well the public wouldnt stand for their more mental ideas.

Jeremy Hunt would be a huge step up. Zahawi is fucking awful and thick as shit but would be more competent. As long as you stay away from the Dorries/Truss/ERG lot it’ll be a step up in honesty and competence. Not a massive step up but you’ll take what you can get.
