Sad that this thread has been derailed, but the problem with the death penalty really is that the only thing going for it is satisfying blood lust. Doesn’t prevent crime, doesn’t save money, can end up killing innocent people.

If it works I’d be more open to it than the death penalty, sperm can be frozen, etc. I have no idea if it works. Not sure what left or right wing has to do with it. It’s the biggest intervention a government can make arguably.

What do you mean by strength of conviction? People are either guilty beyond any reasonable doubt or they aren’t. Last person who had their murder conviction overturned was 2005 BTW.
