Sunak really is a twat, but then so is Starmer. I haven’t decided how to vote yet, I have voted for both Tories and Labour in the past. I await the manifestos with interest. The outcome of the election is inevitable. I’ll come back on this thread in 4 years and see how things are going then.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Good to see a high standard of political debate is being maintained. What was the essence of the message left by the last outgoing Labour government? Words to the effect of “don’t bother looking for the money, there’s none left”. They are all as bad as each other.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

It’s very good. I can imagine you with the tears in your eyes and your upper lip quivering as you watch it. I would be surprised if an equally telling but negative newsreel couldn’t be put together featuring the same politicians. I would imagine giving away the gold reserves left after the...

T TBH I knew that was what you meant, but increasing the voting age to 25 would simply be so unacceptable even the Tories wouldn’t propose it.

I would be happy to stick with the majority of countries at 18. So yes, people should be able to vote if they are 25. Or75.

T That is physical maturity, and some could physically have babies at 12.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

I I’m sorry Pete, the link you gave shows that to give the vote to 16 year olds would be totally out of sync with the vast majority of countries.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Because they have no experience of life and the area of the brain responsible for judgement literally has not formed fully yet. If a 16 year old can’t be trusted to sell me a lottery ticket when I am clearly old enough, they can’t be trusted with a vote And 16 year olds can’t work full time...

To be fair, there has been pressure and, IIRC, targets to reduce the number of elective Caesarian sections for quite some time.
