So tired of this meme.
Expecting the best manager we’ve had to have the same level of support he has last two seasons and the wherewithal to replace those he has to sell isn’t asking for millions to be spunked, it’s asking for the club not to go backwards and to have a sustainable income stream...
Best case here. £8m in, £5m to Sisu, £3m to Robins, he goes and picks up another Sheaf/Hamer/Györkeres type signing at AM, CM and CB. We go into the season with a very balanced squad.
Really to keep things moving you want two in for one out, both with potential to be the next big sale. You can’t ask for a 100% hit rate from the recruitment team. Doesn’t have to be the same position, but you need to restock.
Next up is replacing the deadwood (Wilson, Kane, Rose, Kelly, Allen, Waghorn, Walker) and all bar Allen are out of contract in the summer. I think that’s when you might see more depth in those positions.
£6-8m is what I said, so it’s right at the low end, what would be really criminal is not giving £1-2m back to Robins to get the next player in. That’s the sort of thing that starts the decline of the club.
Wonder if that’s a flat 3 in the middle. If so we’ve done 3421, 3412, 352, 433, 4222, and 424 this preseason. Guess robins is taking the plan B thing seriously :p
