I don’t see why you need to nationalise energy, just invest a load in local community owned generation and storage and a few big wind and solar farms, just buy nuclear energy off them when needed.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Going straight from nationalised energy to communist Russia is one hell of a leap. The reason an industry is nationalised is because it’s either in the national interest to ensure minimum standards/coverage (police, health, education) or if it’s a natural monopoly (utilities, roads, rail)...

    Transfer Shouts

Thing with Walker is if he’s preventing Tavares from getting minutes and we think Tavares could go somewhere he’s basically 4th choice for a position we often play one of. Shame cos he looked alright in the bits of preseason I’ve seen. Hopefully he find a nice L1/2 club to get his mojo back.

Fucking hell. When you make Nadine Dorries look like the sane one you know you need help.

Whats wrong with accelerating automation? We have a massive productivity problem and a labour shortage. Why do you think anti-immigration Japan loves tech so much? Our current inflation is cost push not demand pull, it’s the impact of covid and war (and in our case Brexit) that’s caused it not...

    USSR invades Ukraine.

Interesting paper on Russias economic forecast: tl;dr: Russias economy is fucked until sanctions are removed.

I think you could do it without huge facilities investment: 0-6: Daycare style, looser curriculum and focus on social skills and the like. Should enable the private sector to be more affordable at lower ages like some places in Europe. Lots of maternity/paternity support 0-2 7-10: Primary...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

The first half of this would have the nice side effect of cutting the likes of Serco off at the knees. Second part is why I want a middle school system and have 14-19 able to be anything from trade apprenticeships to grammar style Uni focused pathways, to art, sports and music colleges and...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Bit hard to say before manifestos are released and without knowing what your priorities are, so a nice general one is that the economy tends to grow faster and we run a lower deficit under Labour governments than Tory, mostly because a focus is on growth rather than tax cuts. A less selfish...

A bit of me wonders whether he’s up for it or if he’s enjoying himself as Mayor too much. But yeah someone like him would be perfect. Says a lot that we need to look outside Parliament though. We really need a decent influx of MPs at the next election.

i mean he was and we’ve got data to prove it. And regardless Starmer has also distanced himself from a second referendum. I’d say more the 2017 than 2019 manifesto, but I’d agree. And if the left could find someone better than Burgon or Sultana to front it I think it’s a winning manifesto. But...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

I get why they’ve gone clean slate but they’ve handled it really poorly and it seems to be reactive after the comments rather than proactive so you can’t really blame people for being confused as to whether the 2019 manifesto still stands as a starting point.

I think ideally we’d see someone come in like/for Allen that is a bit more effective at CM and AM to be the third man. Or we’d get rid of Walker and Waghorn and get a ST/AM in. But as it stands having Waghorn and Walker as your reserve forwards isn’t the end of the world. Next season both are...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Trusts make no sense to me. Schools are made up of teachers, parents and kids and can’t really be lifted and shifted to a new set and any economies of scale would be better served by the LA or central government. We seem to have said schools need more autonomy so let’s have lots of little...
