Well yep, that was my point. At lots of different points in our history we have had stripes in our kit (first dating back to 1887), so we can never say it is alien to us or not a true representation of Coventry City kit design. As much as it pains me, I think we need to try and now not look...

Just checked and a total of 40 years of our history has been playing in kits with stripes.
