It could be argued that the belief that there is a need for a Director of Performance undermines the manager’s position. Also someone that snowflake players can go to to complain about being worked to hard or people saying mean things to them on the training pitch.

PD not responsible for tactics and team selection but has responsibility to ensure optimal performance on the game day. We don’t know what impact that role has had on day to day training or if there has been an undermining of the manager’s position.
