    Injury Updates

Agree with this. He also struggles in the main if he's up against quick forwards. I think he'll be useful against Birmingham given their style of play. Especially as Karanka is likely to start Jutkiewicz due to Hogan being out with a hamstring issue.

    Player ratings

Wilson: 6.5 - Didn't particularly have much to do. Got quite lucky with the long range effort in the first half but following that he seemed to gather up loose/ariel balls comfortably. Dabo: 6.5 - Thought he did OK up until he went off but other than one or two bits of skill and one relatively...

That's hardly an insightful prediction though. It's literally like me saying I need air to breathe.

    Match Thread Sheffield Wednesday

How did you have it 'worked'? Unless you predicted Godden was going to miss the majority of the season due to injury and Walker was going to miss chunks of the campaign due to Covid/injury then you didn't have anything 'worked'.

    Match Thread Sheffield Wednesday

The key is to avoid conceding needless set pieces, as this is where they're probably most effective, and to keep Bannan quiet. Then just hope we can scrape a goal somehow.

Derby unable to pay players wages

Exactly. I think as fans we fail to realise the amount of calculated risks that football managers and backroom staff are forced to take in the transfer window, whether that be in regards to bringing in players or retaining them - especially those who manage clubs with a similar budget size to...

Derby unable to pay players wages

Equally, in Robins' mind he probably wasn't forecasting for the loss of both Godden and Walker long term. In theory Baka, nor Biamou were meant to play much of a part this season so dedicating time and resources to bring in a 3rd choice striker was futile, as it would quite clearly be a hard...

    Josh Reid set to sign

What makes you so sure Robins kept money back for January when his comments throughout the window pretty much reiterate the opposite of this? If you take into account the funds that have been freed up as a result of player departures, it's not all that surprising that Robins may have been able...

    Championship Manager Merry Go Round

It's hardly a gamble. Taking into consideration Harris' budget at Cardiff as well as the quality of players he had at his disposal, he was vastly underachieving in my view. McCarthy did a good job at Ipswich, with a far smaller budget than what Harris had. Would be a sensible appointment.

    January transfer window

With Rose and Walker likely to still be weeks away from recovery/fitness there's not a great deal of cover if any of our fit CBs or STs suffer injuries. Especially if both of the aforementioned pick up niggles, further delaying their return date.

Derby unable to pay players wages

Agree with this to an extent. We certainly need a left footed defender in Hyam's position in order to balance the back line but his main issue isn't that he's right footed - it's that he neither has the technical ability nor athleticism to bring the ball out from the back at this level. Hence...

    New signing! Viktor Gyökeres

He also looks like he's got good pace/acceleration and a willingness to take players on. Seems quite effective coming in from the left too so it might benefit him having a strike partner - with him as a LS and Walker/Biamou depending on fitness deployed as a RS.

    Ex Player Watch

He made a couple of comments about Baka after a 2-0 loss to Blackpool a couple of seasons back. "It looked like it was the first time he’d been out there. “It looked like he wasn’t playing with any thought whatsoever, which is unusual. "I hope I don’t see that side of his personality again."

    Richard Keogh

I met him on a few occasions and he was probably one of the nicest players I've had the pleasure of chatting to - bar Michael Doyle. You do come out with some baseless rubbish sometimes.

    EFL Stats Fullbacks

In the scouting process stats are simply part of the puzzle. To have an effective scouting model and more be consistent in the transfer market you simply have to use them. Peterborough and Brentford's scouting models prove this. Of course, you have to understand the context behind them - which...

    Rangers interested in Hamer

Not surprising. If I remember correctly he played quite well against them in pre-season. Inevitably Gerrard has been keeping tabs ever since.

Derby unable to pay players wages

I have to say I agree with this. If clubs continuously believe themselves to be above the rules, capitalising on the incompetency on the EFL, they're eventually going to get found out. The fact Derby weren't deducted points for their dubious stadium sale was absurd so frankly I couldn't care...

Derby unable to pay players wages

Interestingly Derby fans are indicating that the sale has all but been agreed, however now the prospective new owners are refusing to provide the agreed funds as per the legal agreements and negotiations. Inevitably the new owner probably thinks that he can renegotiate a cheaper deal given the...

Derby unable to pay players wages

Sounds like they could potentially be in serious trouble if this takeover falls through - which is looking increasingly likely. Their fans are already taking about a potential fire sale of the players.

    Hilsner loaned out

Not a bad loan really given that in theory he should start the majority of games. Hopefully this will do him the world of good and be a catalyst for getting his fitness back on track.
