Match Thread Cardiff - Home - wednesday the 15th

Driving down from Cardiff with Mrs Dactyl and her dad…both Cardiff season ticket holders. I’m making them sit in the away end while I go off with my mates. Should be fun! As away fans, will they be allowed in the casino for a pint after? If so, can anyone recommend a place where they won’t be?

I was way too scared to go in those places! Mr Gs was as far as I got.

Haha…yeah, that’s reassuring to know. Even when they moved to the new site by the Herbert Art Gallery, and we were confident 20 somethings she’d turn us away…”let’s just go to the Dive Bar”.

Mary? Was that the woman on the door with the pineapple hairstyle? If so she seemed to hate us!

Yeah that’s right…2 bottles of Newcy Brown would see me throwing up in the toilets! Why was it a thing?!

    Entrance Music

Haha! We used to do a tour of venues…dog & trumpet, if we got turned away = Browns. Browns, if we got turned away (we invariably did) = Colin Campbell.

You clearly never went to the Dog & Trumpet on a Saturday night in the 90s and watched the 16/17 year olds leaping around like good uns. 16/17 year olds who would now be middle aged! I saw them. I was 14.

I had to miss this game but my dad went up and reckoned despite Slaven and Speedie scoring hat tricks, Ripley was motm.

    I wouldn’t listen to her.

I’ll take that then. Ah well…Jones can cover O’hare.

Is that hopeful then? Presumably with the transfer window closing MR would’ve chosen to get rid after that?

    Championship 21/22

I imagine he’d be on a fair whack too. Didn’t the manager that signed Walsh leave shortly after?

    Was it a good window?

I think Wenger didn’t get past ligue 2 and Houllier was a teacher…which I guess makes sense. There’s always one or two top flight managers that seem to be on borrowed time, almost regardless of results/performances…yet more recently others like arteta and Solskjaer seem to be given the chance...

Exactly this. His track record in management speaks for itself. Its interesting to me how influence on the pitch/in the dressing room as a player doesn’t always translate effectively to management. Tony Adams leaps to mind.

    Was it a good window?

My dad supports Pompey and sees that Hately deal as great business! Prat. I’d agree about Furlong, looked slightly out of his depth but it was a big step up (Enfield?) and I think we only had him for a year? I hoped he’d develop with us. we’ve done well a couple of times too…£500k for Andy Pearce!
