Do you want to discuss boring politics?

I’ve said before numerous times don’t confuse me holding a balanced view on politics as me being a dyed in the wool Tory voter. I’m probably as down the middle as they come and have voted for both main parties equally. If you have a look at what steps the government has taken over the past...

Think that’s a little one eyed. I think austerity went on for too long but going into 2010 election Labour were also proposing brutal cuts. Austerity would’ve happened whoever had won, the world economy was in meltdown. Also, we’re not playing catch up with the economy now. I think we’re 0.8%...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

To be fair we’ve had a financial crash and a pandemic to contend with. What is totally unacceptable is that during this period the super rich have been coining it in

No, not the very poorest/unemployed but everyone working full time and a lot of part time will be paying NIC so I’m sure those on lower wages will appreciate the rise in threshold from 9k to 12.75k. It was the right thing to do Note - I advocated UC uplift as well as threshold rise

UC should’ve been bumped back up. The increase in NIC threshold will help lowest paid though Edit - not sure anyone on higher income has received a tax cut overall. Higher rate thresholds have been frozen and increase in NIC

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

I’ve said before, in a sense fair play, it would’ve been the easiest thing to do and then make a big thing about it being a brexit benefit but they’ve chosen not to do it. I presume because this would’ve cut bills for plenty of people that can afford it so they’ve done weird council tax rebate...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

I think the energy bills assistance is as previously advised when the new cap figure was confirmed earlier in the year ie council tax rebate and ‘loan’ reducing bills. I’d be shocked if further assistance doesn’t come in Autumn when they know what the new cap will be, assuming energy costs are...

It is supposed to be a wider statement/mini budget though, not just focussed on cost of living, although appreciate that’s at forefront of peoples minds Glad he’s raised NIC threshold to 12.5k.

The wank ?! 😂 Bit harsh. At least let him do his announcement first. Whatever peoples political persuasion I’m not sure many could complain about his actions during pandemic Agree about UB/UC. Forgot about that

You’re in a positive mood PVA 😊 To be fair his hands are tied to some extent. Cost of government borrowing is increasing due to rises in interest rates, which will continue although guessing inflation is bringing down true cost of debt. The Ukraine war is causing a lot of the issues and will...

    USSR invades Ukraine.

Yeah, that’s always been the case, even if he had overthrown government in a few days and replaced it, how do you maintain control without mass genocide ?! It would take tens or hundreds of thousands of troops. Shambolic and totally ill thought through unless there’s something I’m missing or he...

    USSR invades Ukraine.

Yeah, I’ve always felt the West should’ve left further involvement ambiguous mentioning civilian targeting, war crimes, use of nuclear weapons, safety of nuclear reactors etc all of which could trigger a response from us I’d never have supported military action but as you say, you don’t take...

It’s the kind of tactic trump used. We all know why he does it, these words stick in peoples minds, whether true or not. it’s how many people believe them which is more important

Possibly on refugees, as I’ve already said our action on which was pathetically slow but in terms of assisting Ukraine generally, which is what we’re talking about, nowhere near bottom of the pile. Read a variety of papers, check what Zelensky has been saying in particular in relation to our...

Bottom of the pile ?! Come on Tony, I know you don’t think much of the government but I think that’s a bit OTT

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

We were pushing other countries to take the situation more seriously a lot earlier than many did. We have trained military and provided arms to Ukraine before pretty much every other nation and prior to the start of the conflict, some of this also pre dates Johnson (so can’t give him credit for...

    Surprising Stat?

I thought we started the season a lot more solid but as the seasons worn on injuries/changes at the back have lead to problems. We’ve looked really casual in the last three games as well (inc sheff utd), almost back to the start of last season when we invited pressure by being a bit sloppy. It...

    Match Thread Derby Match Thread

Yeah, he bought a pen, we’ve done the same as you say. It shouldn’t have been given but then again I thought Dabos one could’ve been earlier in the half. I think the issue for most is the total lack of consistency in reffing. A couple of Hull ones were more pens than Lawrence’s yesterday
