Managers pick the team. Managers can set the tone by measures like what the players wear etc. This would include squad numbers for me because players are likely to want the same numbers and then you have to adjudicate. A minor detail but some managers like to manage the small details.

The real issue is what the hell is going on with the size of shorts this year? Are we playing US college basketball? They are at least 2 sizes too big and look ridiculous.

Of course it is worse. Defence and midfield no stronger and attack weaker. Ricketts for Pennington? Ward and Barton replaced by Vincelot and Swanson = looks no better to me but hope to be proven wrong.

Good point. However, they are not going to be replaced unless TM is after 8 or 9 new players which seems unlikely.

The 4 players I would bench from that line up are Phillips, Stokes, Swanson and Maddison. All should be pushing 4 new men for a start. Ideally Tudgay, Burge and Johnson would not be automatic choices either. A long way to go before we will be competitive IMO, half a team in fact.

Sorry, that team is worse than the one that nearly got relegated. Minimum of 4 players need replacing and the bench is nightmarish.

Villa is a big club. Villa is a much bigger club than CCFC. They are not in the United, Arsenal, Chelsea class though, but their fans who I know believe they are. There was nuance in my post not hatred.

Plus, Villa fans have delusions of being a truly big club and always dismissed ccfc as crap even when we were higher, better, beat them etc Plus, lots of Cov born and bred people supported Villa even when ccfc were on a par with them, which is a disgrace at any time, obviously.
