The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

Depends. If they have agreed that they owe that money, then they owe that money. If there was a clause that some of it was dependent on getting a transition period, then that may be different. I suspect it will be a gray area. They had to agree to go forward to the trade deal. But, which court...

Second referendum : am I missing something ?

May now asking for respect and proposals for Brexit from the EU. I think she has been talking to Bazza. We’re leaving. Why don’t we just put forward a workable plan? We helped write the rules of the single market. We cannot say we don’t understand how the single market will be compromised. It...

Second referendum : am I missing something ?

Yes, all governments seem to want to find a solution... the right wingers may have differing views from the more centrist parties, everyone seems to want to do something. That is the way it should be, Europeans trying to find a joint solution to the problem. The UK is not as interested as...

Second referendum : am I missing something ?

How would that work? Payment for not being in the EU? Where do you get your ideas from?

Second referendum : am I missing something ?

Same here. Here is one from 2017. 12% to GB, 14,3% to France. Not 20% as Astute likes to think and France is more than the UK. 12 Prozent der deutschen Exporte gingen 2016 nach GB

Second referendum : am I missing something ?

I don’t know, but Brexit is not being discussed here in terms of car exports. There is nothing in the local news where I live. We are more shipbuilding ( best submarines in the world) and cruise ship visits and Baltic trade. Maybe there is more discussion in the car regions, VW is more in the...

Second referendum : am I missing something ?

Brexit got a brief mention here. People just said May is asking for something that won’t happen. The big discussion is about illegal non EU immigration and how to solve it. Brexit is a distraction. No one is really bothered about Brexit at the moment.

The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

What are you on? 27 countries have just said no to our plan, and you think that puts us in a position to make less concessions than the 27? What do you think they are going to do now? Keep discussing until they decide to accept our plan?

EU 'will take Britain to The Hague if it does not pay £50bn Brexit bill'

Show me a law which says international agreements only apply when it suits. We are covered by international courts not the EU in this dispute.

The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

Do you read your links? There is no 100bn bill for the reasons stated in the article. 39 billion is the agreed figure. That is the enforceable amount, not 100bn. If Grendel is right, the UK could save the transition period payments. I don’t think he is right, as I think we pay until the end of...

How do you think the courts will decide on things we agreed to?

Second referendum : am I missing something ?

At the moment we are talking about not being in the single market, but wanting the benefits of it. It would wreck the single market. Whether or not Germany sells a lot of cars in the UK, the single market is worth more for 27 countries than sales to the UK. That’s it.

You will walk away then. Simple.

Sportsman‘s bet says we will pay. We may claim to have got concessions, but no way are we doing a runner.

You know that the head of the WTO says it won’t be a walk in the park don’t you? There are plenty of countries out there who will want to take advantage of our weak position.

The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

We’ve agreed to pay and we will pay. May was under pressure to take a tougher stance, so she says we may not pay. So what. We signed up to 39 billion, which includes liabilities which may not be called upon, and we will honour our commitments. There is no way we can look for new partners with...

The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

When we trade with the EU we are dealing with the single market. That’s 27 countries less to think about, plus the EU trade deals and individual arrangements with most of the rest of the world. If we didn’t have that, we would be fighting to get it.

Years of negotiating. WTO = loads of countries that may have a reason to block things that we want.
