    Kwame to Sutton

I thought that in the second half, McNulty and Biamou looked dangerous in the second half, and both could have scored with a little luck. I think they’re worth persevering with.

Match Thread Barnet - Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 7th Oct

The lack of goals is obviously disappointing, but I think both McNulty and Biamou are good players, and show promise of things to come.

    PONTICELLI

I agree with most of what you say here, although I wouldn’t be so quick to write him off, we just haven’t seen enough of him yet. He does look ‘heavy’, presumably his natural build, but I’m sure City will be looking at that. We need to know what his overall game is like, can he hold the ball up...

Match Thread Barnet - Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 7th Oct

Thought the Sky Blue Army were excellent today. A frustrating day, and we didn’t play particularly well, but the fans kept behind the team and applauded at the end. Good humour with the Barnet ‘band’, and pleased that we didn’t belittle Barnet (or Edgware, more accurately!) the town or the team...

    Best defence since?

The last group are probably the best defence we’ve had in my time supporting the club. Although our defence have done well, Barnet played for a draw today, and didn’t offer much of a threat today. Other posters are right to point to the defensive nature of the team, with holding midfielders...

    Barnet

Good, informative post, thank you. Looking forward to the day, and wishing you all the best for the season, except for a couple of games! Oh, and we're Cov, and won't be taking your 'you should win' for granted!

Well said, good luck for the season! Looking forward to visiting the real St James Park in January!!

First Ever Cov Match You Saw ?

A shame, but great that you still follow from afar. Similar to you, my family moved away, to South Norfolk in 1969, when I was 14. Started to play football, and watched City spasmodically in the 70's and early 80's. We're living up near Newcastle now, and get to maybe 8/10 games a season, always...

First Ever Cov Match You Saw ?

Great posts C&C! You were watching City 2 years before I was born, and fully 10 years before my first game against Sunderland in the 5th round of the FA Cup, 25 March 1963, when I also, was 7 years old. Respect to you! Are you still in Coventry, and do you still go to games?

    best games

Sorry to be a bore, my top 10 games ( been thinking of posting these for a while), with some explanations. 1. Cov v Wolves 1967. 3-1 to City in the 'Midlands match of the century'. Who wouldn't feel privileged to have been there? 2. Wembley 1987. At the final whistle, I said to my wife 'I...

First Ever Cov Match You Saw ?

Although I think Newcastle fans are arrogant, some of it is due to me being up here, and seeing/hearing them all the time. Liverpool fans have always cheesed me off, they think they have a divine right to win every game, they've gone a bit quieter recently, but a couple of years ago they were...

    best games

Absolutely! The Midlands match of the Century is my all time 'moment in time' favourite game. Followed closely by Wembley '87. Trivia point, I played for Kings Lynn in season 82/83, and our captain was one Mick Wright, who scored the headed winner against City at Highfield Road. Mick played over...

First Ever Cov Match You Saw ?

My Grandad was a Geordie - actually no, a 'sand dancer' from South Shields -Sunderland fan. My Granny and then my Mum were from Gateshead ( the dirty back lane on the way into to Newcastle!). Grandad came down from the North East to work in the munition factories, as probably many others did...

First Ever Cov Match You Saw ?

This was a great game, and as you say, the ground was full of geordies, but a great atmosphere. It was January 1967, third round, we lost 4-3. After the game I went to a sweet shop near the ground (back of what became the Sky Blue stand?) and a guy in a Newcastle scarf told me not to worry...

First Ever Cov Match You Saw ?

I remember going to City v Man U, in January 1973. A 1-1 draw. I was living in Norfolk by then, and went with two diehard, Norfolk born and bred Man U fans (note the sarcasm here). When we got to the ground, it was just a sea of red and white, and I kept saying to my friends, don't you worry...

First Ever Cov Match You Saw ?

My first 3 games - is that cheating? All 1963; v Sunderland with Sunderland supporting Grandad, 5th round FA Cup, won 2-1; v Man U 6th round FA Cup, lost 3-1; v Halifax Town, won 5-4, a debut hat-trick for George Hudson, I think? Hooked for ever? You bet!!!

Which areas of Cov or out of town?

Started watching while living in Radford 63-69, then Norfolk, Notts, Lincs, and for the last 27 years, Hexham, Northumberland. Don't know of any Cov fans up here! Just about all either Newcastle or Sunderland, although on our close, 1 Everton, 1 Aberdeen, and 1 FC United of Manchester.

    Our defence

Yep, I think we're coming at it very much from the same angle, and I'm sorry that I missed the satirical swipe!! PUSB!
