I did not get on with The Lighthouse at all but as you say that I can recognise the similarities in vibe. Strangely it reminded me a little of the Illusionist…although the films are nothing like each other. That might just be me.

Well, it’s grim for sure but also kinda Grimm…and maybe this slight fairytale portrayal takes some of the edge off it. Ken Loach it ain’t. But at the same time the subject matter is terrible and it doesn’t really holdback too much.
