    Online Sales Tax

I'm 500% up online which sounds lovely but realistically I've gone from taking peanuts to 5 times as many peanuts. Over the past 3 months I think many older people in particular have discovered the internet it pretty handy for shopping. I'll be surprised if high street footfall gets within 15%...

    Online Sales Tax

A 2% online tax will make no difference to the high street whatsoever. It's a money maker, one of many that will undoubtedly be rolled out in the next few months to start paying for the past few months. Does anyone else work in retail? I see the national footfall is around 40% down year on year...

    Ever Been Sacked ?

The mind numbing profession of selling greeting cards. The place I worked for treated me like shit for around 5 years so decided to start up myself. My wife previously worked for said company and had a misscarriage at work and had to go to the doctors so I went over to cover. The area manager...

    Ever Been Sacked ?

Never been sacked but been threatened many times in the past in my old job. Things really came to a head when my area manager decided I had opened a rival store selling the same type of stuff about 100 yards away. He had no proof abd threats of the sack then turned to threats of demotion, then...

    Look after my bills

I've just had a bill from EDF. £527 in credit and they are lowering my monthly direct debits to use it up. Only problem is the original direct debit is too high despite my telling them and the new amount is around what I usually use so the credit is never going to be used up. To be fair if I...

I think the Welsh announcement gives us a pretty good idea of what Boris will say tomorrow. Very little change and another 3 weeks of it.

How’s everyone doing at the moment ?

I've got a 5 month old Daughter so it's been very nice (sometimes) to get to spend a lot of time with her when ordinarily I would be out at work or asleep 5 or 6 days a week. I'm also one of those people that gets used to things quickly, this feels normal for me now and I could probably keep it...

    Proud to work at HMRC

Fair play, I made a claim on Monday and looking at my online banking this morning I have a pending payment from HMRC due in my account on Monday. Fantastic service and so simple to use. It must have been some effort to get it all set up and processed as quickly as this.

If you're relying on the worldometer website for critical figures, don't. If they don't have the figures to hand they leave the pmost recent ones up until they get an updated figure. We've been on 163 critical for 3 days or so now, and before that we were sat on 20 for a week or longer.

    Seriously struggling today

Youtube. Music makes me happy so i'll put a few videos on to cheer me up or at least keep my mind occupied. I will usually get the guitar out and pretend I can actually play it but with the wife at home that's something I can't currently do though. I'll also watch videos of happy sporting...

Crap, i'll have run out of money by the middle of April. I'm also concerned that those of us eligible for the business grants will be contacted by letter. Not much use when I can't get in the shop to retrieve said letter.

    Who’s at work/Not at work?

Greeting cards, party supplies etc. It's as dull as it sounds. The customer base is predominently older so once the Government started asking older people to stay at home sales went south. It's easy enough to list cards on ebay but unsurprisingly there just isn't the demand to bring in more than...

    Who’s at work/Not at work?

My retail unit has bene shut since Sunday although sales collapsed well over a week beforehand. I grabbed a load of stock on my way out and am now selling a few bits and pieces on ebay to try and keep some money coming in. Lots of hours and very little money. I'm waiting to be able to make a...

I think the government paying 80% of wages will make it more cost effective for a lot of the remaining non essential retail shops to close rather than stay open. Dorothy Perkins has decided to close all their stores from tonight for a start.
