Match Thread Coventry City v Southend

I'm with Mr Panda. A nervy 1-0 win. No Kast and Hyam but hopefully Kelly and Allen both fit. I thought Westbrooke did quite a good job playing out of position as a defensive midfielder against Swindon, even if he looks quite slight. I would not worry too much if he is needed in that role. Also...

    Bright Enobakhare

If I was Bright, or his agent, we would not be first choice but be good to have in the back pocket should nothing better turn up. At his age, and with that talent, Bright needs exposure. He just wants it at a team as high up the leagues as possible. So if I was him I'd sit and wait until the...

    Where is Rick Gekoski?

Best novel with a football theme How Steeple Sinderby Wanderers won the FA Cup by J L Carr It will take you not longer than a couple of hours. I read it once a year. Laugh and cry

    Ahhhh...a new season

Robins has not had a dud season so is due one, but on the basis of today, we will be a better footballing side and if we play 4-2-3-1, are less likely to be out muscled in the midfield. Anywhere 5th-10th, depending on the rub of the green.

    Starting Lineup for Southend

For me... Marosi Dabo MacF Hyam ( or Rose) Mason Allen Kelly Jobello Bayliss Hiwula Baka Shipley brought nothing to the party at Swindon. Bayliss brought energy and skill. So suspect it will be Shipley

This pretty much my opinion. Baka does put himself about, and that was how he made his goal, but he missed a sitter Biamou's was a great left foot strike that I doubt Baka could emulate Jobello did look good (great ball control) but tired and was much less effective after half time Shipley is...

    Ahhhh...a new season

It is all fine margins. We had the rub of the green last season with a number of one goal victories won by great bits of individual skill (Accrington A, Charlton H, Southend H). These could have just as easily been draws. It is a team re-build for the 2nd time in 3 years - only Kelly & Hyam...

I and one other will be there - it's semi-local. Disjointed 2-1 win. It's the cheapest game I am going to see £8 + a bit of petrol

    Next Seasons Confirmed Squad/Transfer Rumours

If I remember rightly Maddison went at the very last minute. Who knows what is going on. But we do know CCFC is a tight ship on the transfer side.

If every club had the replacement sorted out, it becomes like a housing chain only worse. You are all waiting for one link in the chain to sort themselves out. You have to recognize that it is not always possible to have someone lined up. Last year three of out top 5 players were loans. Only...

We have made a trading profit on a player who is at best not suitable to our way of playing, and at worst an overpriced dud. Finding the right striker is really difficult, so if you can move them through so much the better. He was never going to do 10 goals a season

    Transfer Rumour Bids for Chaplin

    1. Chaplin is too slow over the first 10 yards (surprising for a man of his height and build) 2. He had a poor positional sense - not just too deep but often the wrong place. He was the only forward not involved in the Hiwula goal against Southend because he was way out on the touchline where...

excluding penalties? And you are the main striker? And you miss a fair few? He was a bad buy, it happens. This is good business.

    William Bapaga

At the time Watford were not in the elite in terms of youth programmes as they were not in the Prem, so could not prevent Man City taking him. This is according to one of the management team in the Watford youth set up. That is the situation we are in I assume.

The players we have sold for serious profit are Wilson, Maddison, and presumably Bayliss. Add in Bigi to Newc or even Stevenson...do we not generate defenders for future sale?
