Yes - but the pact has essentially turned the BXP into a Tory party wing. This might be the step too far for lots of them. And that is not factoring in the idea that there will still be Tory voters in those seats that will also go to them. What the ratio is will be the key.

Of course - but their blanket approach of only standing in seats NOT held by the Tories could be counterproductive. The Tories have to win by taking Lab seats. It has been suggested that the Brexit party take 2 votes from the Tories for every 1 they take from Lab. Lab voters that went for BXP in...

Not really... I merely think that the Brexit party will not have the same impact as people make out. I think they’ve got their strategy a bit skewiff.

Exactly - this is why they should both pull out of Brighton Pavillion. Some local agreements in 20 or so ‘key’ seats and then the dynamic changes.

But a potential SNP/Lab coalition is probably just as likely - the Tories will probably lose most of the Scotland seats.

This is sensible. Labour should reciprocate in Richmond.

    Armistice Day

Shouldn't we learn from the mistakes of history? Or do we just repeat ad infinitum?

I think people are overplaying the significance of this Brexit party move.... at this stage at least. Firstly - the chances of any BXP MP’s have pretty much evaporated. So this couldn’t help Johnson later on form a potential government. Secondly - A Tory majority assumes that they hold onto...

I love how if Corbyn gets in that Starbucks, Amazon, Tesco and all the multi-national conglomerates will stop trading here the next day.

Whether it is a uniquely British disease or not... it is shameful in the 21st Century.

Firstly this comment is about the UK... I’ll be honest I was not aware about the usage of food banks in other countries - I’m interested in why this exists in the 5/6th richest country in the world in the 21st Century. Secondly - my issue with zero hours contracts is the notion that a) counting...

I can’t even begin to imagine the tax receipts generated by all those zero hours contracts. And I’m sure the rise is foodbank use is just unlucky and unrelated. We are lucky to live in such visionary times.

    SBT’s general election poll

I’m guessing you have been lucky for the last 9 years not to have impacted on you. I’m glad for you. I too have not had to worry about the impact of austerity in my personal life. I have however seen the impact of it every day in my teaching job. I have seen families torn apart by the cruelty...

No one blames your generation for what Blair did... he can take that mantle all on his own. And yes you are right - Brown did kill off those pensions, and I imagine the Tories would have done the same if in power at that time. I understand you wanting to protect your pension... but are you...

The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

People that are living on the poverty line, accessing food banks, disabled and vulnerable are a million miles away from having to worry about whether they lose £5/£10K from lowering an inheritance tax threshold. And there are so many people in the former situation than the latter. that doesn’t...
